I was reminising about past trips to Fort Wilderness as a child of the 70's and while my brain has no pics of a train that I know was there it does seem to remember this:

To go see the movie and meet Chip and Dale everyone met at a special loading area and we all rode to the area through the canals to the movie. there were CMs to help you in and out and for some reason I think they controled the canoes. Then you went back the same way. It would have been 1973-1979 range. Back then we went every 2 years on the way to see Grandma.

Ahhhhhh yes!!! Marshmallow Marsh! They loaded up 10-12 people in a canoe & you paddled your butts through the canals to the area behind the 300 loop where the little cabin is. Then - you sang a few songs around a campfire, toasted marshmallows, and watched a little play - that you could be chosen to participate in. My DH was chosen to be "Father Nature", whose job was to pollinate all the "flowers" (children in audience). It was hysterical!!! It also helped that we were newly-wed's on our honeymoon!

I remember folks talking about it, but to be hones during that time period I was spending more time trying to score beer than roasting marshmallows. :hippie:

Lots of fun activities have gone by the wayside through the years.

I have fond memories of the Marshmallow Marsh and doing that with my two boys. We only did it on one trip because of limited funds at that time. I wish it were back!!
