Sooo for our next family trip next fall we are really wanting to try to rent points for a villa at the GF....if we are unsuccessful with this I am considering going offsite :(

We have only done one stay onsite for a few nights at the poly and I LOVED it and my plan was to go back there for the week stay but with all the construction we don't want to pay high prices with construction all around.

so we are contemplating offsite and then returning to the poly the next trip (if I can convince DH there is a next trip...augh)

So my question is, should we return to bonnet creek for the week?? we have stayed there before and enjoyed it but I hear mixed reviews lately...

My experience with Bonnet Creek was this (not comparing it to on-site):
* Priced moderately -- not the cheapest off-site, not the most expensive
* Theming was fun, certainly has a resort feel
* Pools were nice (I like having a noodle to lie on in the lazy rivers)
* The hard sell: yea it was there, but it was only at check in so for me, no big deal. Got past it and it wasn't an issue after that.
* Parking was not fun, but we were in Bldg 5 was is near the garage, and I found it convenient enough. Still and all at the end of the day I got tired of the parking lot woes (we had an ECV so it would have been nicer to park in the handicap spot - but that was never open)
But the main reason I probably will never stay there again (at least between the months of March - November) is the airconditioning.

I did NOT like how it reset. Yes I could do the over ride and did. But we found ourself frequently waking up sweaty. I didn't get a good night's rest the entire trip. I got a coupld of good naps in b/c DH would stay up and keep the air running.

I know that this problem isn't in all units, but I'm not willing to take the chance of my precious vacation time to have that happen again. There are too many options out there for me to play comfort-roulette.

That's my experience and certainly not shared by everyone.

With the GF villas being the newest villas on site I would think it would be pretty hard to obtain one. Have they even opened them up yet? BLT might being a better dream site to aim for your fall trip 2014. With the magic bands being up and running by fall 2014, I question the wisdom of ever staying off site again as some say the Disney resort guests will take all the fass passes with their early select and the rest of us folks will be in stand by lines all day. If you are a rope drop family then you could probably hit some of the major rides early in the morning. Also there is the fact that if the Disney resort guest already has a fass pass for Soarin and Test Track maybe they will sleep in and arrive later in the day. I am thinking my years of staying off site may have to come to an end. I will wait and see but the magic band sure gives the Disney resort guest a head start on everyone else going to a particular park.

I hadn't thought of it this way but I do agree with your points that you make here. I really want to stay at the GF so if we cannot get a villa we might just stay in a standard room there. I like the look of BLT but no one else in my family does :(

This is our first time doing all the parks and our last big disney trip for a while so really am thinking onsite would be best. But am tempted by the price of offsite
