Has anyone done the Cane Pole Fishing at either POR or FW?

My 14 year old DS has never been fishing and has always wanted to go. I'm not sure if the guided fishing tour will be in the budget so I thought this would be a good alternative.

Is there someone there to help with the basics - how to bait the hook, cast the line etc?

Is there a chance he will catch a fish?

Thanks

We did the cane pole fishing at the PORS when we were there in 2002. It has been a while but if I remember correctly, you rented a cane pole and bought a cup of worms. There are a couple cast members present to help out and sell bait but you are pretty much on your own. It is kind of like fishing in your local park. A lot of small to medium size fish. In my opinion it is more suited for small children who have not been fishing much before.

my lil ones did last year at the fort and out of the 3 of them my smallest caught a baby panfish after 2 hours of fishing..

Here you go. They rent little cane poles and give you some worms. My DS caught a blue gill if you can see it. It was really fun.
