Love Miyuki! I've never been picked, but I could watch her for hours. She does a sing-song type commentary as she goes and it's easy to zone out and just be in awe of what she does.

"Shiny...Shiny" Whenever we hear that word now, our family thinks of Miyuki! We loved her, what an amazing artist.

Our daughter didn't get picked the first time we saw her show but she told us to wait for the next one. DD was the first one picked and Miyuki made her a BEAUTIFUL giraffe. From what I have heard and experienced, Miyuki ONLY picks polite individuals.

I was there this past Sept. and wanted to see her also but I didn't see her stand set up anywhere and she was not listed in the times guide. I should have asked about it but didn't. Anyone know why she wouldn't have been there in Sept. We were there on a Thursday.

The stand that she uses has been gone the last couple of times I went. Didn't see her perform while we were there. They may have taken it down for the Food and Wine Festival. But, her stand was gone in Sept when I went as well.

She was there this past week. Could very well be that she takes time off every so often and they take the stand down.

We were in the world from Sept. 19-27, 2009. I changed my Epcot day just so I could watch her. So I go to Japan and ask about the show and she is on VACATION! So I have tried 3 years to watch her and still have not seen her. I will try again in July. Everyone needs a vacation. But maybe that is why some people did not see the stand in Sept.

I was just on the thread (an old one which is closed now so I can't ask there) for food pictures and a woman posted that they lined up early for a show and all of her kids got picked, showing them with animal shaped candy on a stick.

Where is this and what is it? And can you buy these creations or do you only get them if your child gets picked? Is the show long and is it run more then once a day?

One oif the greatest things about Disney is, no matter how many times you go, thee is always something different popping up for you to do. I see you have been a Dis Board member for 6 years, and didn't know aboiut Myuki. I have been going to Disney for many years, and there is always something new to do, even though it has been there for a long time.

I learned about Miyuki here on the boards last year. We got there early for her show and my DGS didn't get picked. We went to a second show and again he didn't get picked. As she was packing to leave I managed to ask her if she would be there later in the week and she made my DGS a blue dragon. She said she remembered him and that he was a very nice boy, very polite. I didn't expect this but it was the highlight of the trip for him. I am going without kids this trip but I will catch the show again. It is magical just watching her.

Exactly! That is one of the reasons I love this board too! Every trip we have been on since our first I have learned something new and fun for us to try or do.....this time it is this and several new places to eat! If not for the food pic thread I would not have known about her!

My boys are very good so hopefully we will get there early enough to get picked and if not I think it still sounds amazing!

I was just there this past week and saw her for the first time. You're right about the sing-song commentary. I think she had DS and I in a trance for about 15 minutes.

I took some pictures and video but I haven't unloaded my camera yet. Maybe I should see how they turned out!

If your kids want any chance at all of being picked, stress to them that politeness is key. This also goes for any parents that try to push their kids in front or anything like that, she more than likely won't pick that kid. Remember it's not a child's "right" to be picked, it's a gift and a privilege. I'm not trying to be scold-y, just stating the facts when it comes to how Miyuki tends to run her show.

If memory serves, her grandfather taught her how to do it, she's the only woman in the world doing it right now and she's teaching her daughter. I could listen to her talk all day. I suggest keeping your eyes on her hands because if you look away, you'll miss the animal taking shape what seems like instantly.

My understanding is also that if you don't get picked for one show, and come back for another and politely wait again, she'll really try to get to you. We walked up at the end of one show, as she was cleaning up I asked her if she would be able to let us stand a little closer or come closer to show my father (he's legally blind, has some sight) and she said to come back and she'd make our guide dog out of candy. It was AWESOME!

I love Miyuki. I think it is one of the coolest things I have ever seen. I've been very lucky that both times we have seen the show my daughter was picked. She is a very quiet little girl and I was afraid she would be overlooked. Both times we arrived about 10-15 minutes early.

We got there early and watched the storyteller, too. She was GREAT!! If you time it right, you just turn around and can watch both shows within less than an hour.

My two weren't chosen (there was a lady telling her kids to stand in different areas so Miyuki wouldn't know they were a family, and they even lied when she asked if they were family), but we love watching the show either way. I had pictures of Miyuki in their photo book passports, so they asked for her autograph. She obliged and also made them a white crane. Ignore the funny looks on the kids' faces.

I agree with the others. We were there when she started to set up and my boys stood quietly and patiently. While others came in shoving their way to the front and begging to get picked. She chose both my boys and they came away with a Tiger and Dragon.

She has gotten very popular and in an effort to try to give candy to as many families as possible, she kindly requests only 1 per family. So if you go, prep your kids ahead of time that if one is picked they have to agree on an animal and share.

She is amazing. they did a story on tv a few years back about her. I think that at the time only 13 people in the world were making candy like her and she is the only woman. Ancient Japaneze art.
