Hi Folks

I want to make a candy leis using salt water taffy for my DH grandmas 90th birthday party but I don't want to use cellophane or Saran wrap.

Does anyone know how I could tie or glue the taffy into bundles and then tie in on the leis

I am going to also be tying money on it.

Any thought would be great!!
Thanks

Could you use a needle and thick thread through the edges of the wrappers to gather them together, then tie them on?

Usually candy leis are made with tubes of cellophane or netting. You would put it in and than tie a ribbon in between the pieces of candy and money.

Amazon had some kits. I am sure that you can do a search for the tubes and probably find them.

I agree that your best bet would be to use something like netting or maybe tulle if you don't want to use cellophane or plastic wrap. At first I thought maybe you could just tie the salt water taffy together, end to end (assuming they are in a wax paper type wrapper with 2 twisted ends). But...I don't think that would work well, because the wrappers may not be strong enough to hold up to the weight of the lei, and you may end up with tears/breaks.
