Hi,
I have a few questions about the movies that are shown on board.
Are they shown during the day or evening?

I have read that you have to pay for the candy for the movies?
Do they sell popcorn as well for the movies? What about pop, do you have to pay for the pop?

Would you beable to bring in your own candy? What if you went to the drink station for your pop, would they let you bring it in?

thanks!

Depends which theater they're in... the bigger one has a station right out side by the gift shops that sells drinks ,candy, popcorn, pretzels etc. but you could bring in anything you want with you. I have brought things in for my toddler no problem... the other theater by the nursery sometimes has a cart selling a few things like drinks and popcorn but not as big of selection. depends on the movie... they're staggered through day and evening...

You can definatley bring your own food and drink in....

We took cookies and brownies from "afternoon cookie time" located by the deck 9 drink station. Also the "free" cokes. Many, many people brought fries, pizza, chicken, nachos....anything they could get on deck 9 for "free".

And, yes, we all know it's not REALLY free...we already paid out the nose for it.

We took our candy bag. A friend packed my DD a Minnie tote purse with crackers, candy, gum, etc. for the travel time. We took it to the movie and had our own stash.

I always put away some of the kid's Halloween stash for the movies onboard since we cruise in December. :)

People above have it exactly right. Bring a large bag of your favorite candy and parcel it out into zip lock bags for the movies. And/or go to Scoops and get choc chip cookies or fruit and a drink before the movie.

Yes, they sell candy, popcorn, and drinks outside of the theatres, and yes, you do pay for them. We have occasionally splurged on a smoothie before a show, but I'm cheap. I can't see paying for things that I can get for free with just a little effort!

You can bring in any food you want. Technically, you could order room service before a movie and bring in a sandwich!

I'm all for bringing "free" stuff in....... The only thing I wish they had was REAL fresh buttered MOVIE THEATRE POPCORN. Sometimes I think I go to the movies with my DH and kids just to get the popcorn! I'm pretty sure the popcorn is the bagged stuff..... We REALLY enjoyed the movies on our last cruise. Movies for a family of 4 are SOOOOOOOOO expensive these days. We went to a matinee just last weekend.... it was $27. to get in, and another 18.50 for popcorn, drinks, and 1 think of candy...... OUCH!!!!!

Well, you answered my question. I am a popcorn fanatic and probably look forward to that as much as the movie I am going to see! Bummer!

Great idea Lisa! I will have to do that this year too.

Scoops used to have m&ms to put on top of ice cream.

Do they still have it? We asked for a bowl of m&ms and took that to the movies.

I was at Target yesterday and they had what I would call "movie" candy on sale 5 for $4. If you are cruising in the next several weeks stock up. Good selection. This is boxed candy that probably sells for at least $2 in the theatre or on the ship!

I saw folks bring in bags like the Golden Flake "cooked a LONG time ago" kind.
The one I saw was the size of a "regular", not huge, bag of Ruffles, etc.

This is so funny. On our last cruise, my husband, son and I went to the movies. Well right before the movie, my mother, mother in Law and two uncles were eating at Palo's. I was teasing them telling them how good the chocolate souffle was and how I would love to have another one. DH and I went the night before. Well, just before the movie starts, my MIL brings me the chocolate souffle. It was hilarious. They told their waiter how much I loved it and when they were ready to leave their waiter gave them one to bring to me. Talk about going above and beyond your job. What a waiter. I must say, the ice cream was a bit melted, but it was just as good and I got to watch the movie while I enjoyed it.

Just wanted to share my memories. We will be going on the repo cruise and we will be able to eat at Palo's twice. YIPPPEEEEE  :bounce:

Thanks for the Target candy tip. I think I am going to head over tonight, and pick up everyone's favorite.... now, is there anything anyone can do about the fresh buttered "movie popcorn" problem?????

i will say this, the popcorn is really cheap! it was 1.50 for a big bag
another suggestion, order the cheese and fruit tray from room service and take it with you
