Thinking about staying in connecting rooms here. Wondering how far the walk is, how safe that walk is and how often the shuttle runs and is it worth it to take it?

Anything else I need to know about this place? We want something CLEAN and close with connecting rooms.

Thanks!

Kristine

Candy Cane is right next to DL, walk is probably 5-10 minutes depending on your speed and how crowded the sidewalk is. I've never felt unsafe walking to any of the hotels in the area. You might see a few homeless people, but there are always so many guests walking around, I've never seen any issues. I'm not sure how often the shuttle runs, I want to say every half hour? Could be sooner during opening/closing times. Most of the time it's easier just to walk, but at the end of a long day the ride is nice.

The shuttle runs on the hour and the 30 to the park. It returns form the park on the 15 adn 45. It is ON TIME, so if you get there at 17 after, you know you will be waiting for the next one.

The walk is 5-10 depending on your speed. It is very safe. I do it frequently, never felt unsafe even really late at night.

Rooms are clean, customer service is great, and the private shuttles are terrific. The breakfast is simple, but provides plenty for us to get started in the parks. We've never had a complaint from anyone we've referred there.

I have done the walk a couple times after just missing the shuttle (which runs every 30 minutes as others have said). If you are a power walker like me it takes about 8 minutes. I think those saying 5 minutes are misremembering. :)

And while the walk is not bad even at 8-10 minutes, definitely make use of the shuttle.

You can see some Candy Cane Inn pics by clicking on the link in my sig. It is our go-to place to stay at DLR.
We timed our walk (no small children). It took us 8 minutes in the morning and 12 minutes at night to go back. Yes, we were walking slower at the end of the day! The only time we use the shuttle is after our afternoon nap. We take the shuttle to go back to the parks for the evening. In the morning, we don't want to wait for a shuttle. We just go.

The pool area is very pretty. Its small area, but the hanging baskets with flowers are such a nice touch! I enjoy breakfast out there.
The rooms are nice and updated, comfy beds, and I really like the Plantation Shutter's!
The shuttle is dependable after a long day, and the staff are the best!
Its my favorite off site hotel, better in my book than the Fairfield Inn!

Ask for a AAA rate if you have it!

Candy Cane Inn is my go-to hotel. The rooms are always spotless showers wonderful and I just love their super soft beds! The staff, including shuttle drivers do a wonderful job, too, very courteous and friendly. I do count on the shuttle, as walking too much is something I need to be careful of and love how reliable the shuttles are. I have also learned that if you want to dine at Denny's or McDonald's across the street, to take the shuttle to DL as it stops at the furthest place (only negative thing) but that is closest to the crosswalk and helps with tired feet that way, too. I hope you have a fabulous trip! :)

Thanks everyone for your comments and advice! I think we decided on the new courtyard with the waterpark. Their rooms had a bit more space and we would only need 1 as opposed to needing 2 at the CCI. We don't like to cram into a room and need space from each other to rest. So needing two rooms vs just one really jacks the price up. But we will keep it in mind if it is just my husband and I going!
