Candy Cane Inn shuttle

I'm thinking of staying at the CCI for the first time. Does the shuttle typically reach capacity and turn people away in the morning? We would want to go early, in order to be in line prior to park open.

I'm occasionally there in the morning when the CCI shuttle is dropping people off. I stay at Majestic Gardens, and they share a drop off post, so they occasionally overlap with drop-offs and pick-ups. At any rate, I have yet to see a CCI shuttle that's filled to the brim with people. Pretty full? Yep. Full-full? Not that I have witnessed.

By contrast, Majestic is usually overly full and running busses at double time to try to manage their guests in the morning, haha. But Majestic is also ginormous in comparison to CCI.

We stayed last March and didn't find the shuttle full at all in the morning. CCI is so close tho that we usually just walked back from the park. Some of our party did ride back to CCI and didn't have any problem. I think the stop at DL may be shared so it may look like there are a lot of people waiting and then you find they might be getting on a different shuttle/bus.

This happened to us just once in 8 days. If you are there early to get on, it should be fine. We insisted that they let my mum on (she has mobility issues) and then we walked. Arrived at least 5 minutes before the shuttle did, it's actually a pretty short walk.

I met up with some friends at Disneyland some years ago and the one who was visiting from Florida rarely wanted to take the CCI shuttle because, as a WDW veteran, it was a real novelty for him to be able to easily walk between the parks and his hotel! 😁

I’m shocked the hotel still offers a shuttle. We use to stay here and walk through the pedestrian Katella gate to take the parking lot tram into Disneyland. Those were the days!

In the late 1990s, we use to joke about how long before Disney acquires the remaining properties on the block. Shockingly, they acquired none. The Desert Palm Suites acquired and expanded into the neighboring dumpy hotel, but nothing else has changed hands, which is pretty amazing.

Even more amazing, the same family has owned The Candy Cane Inn since 1957.

We’ve stayed here and the shuttle (they call it a trolley) was never full.

Honestly I’d rather walk for rope drop and just take the shuttle back. A few times we wanted to catch it but the times were not aligned with our desire to leave and we ended up walking.

Here is the pick up and drop off times
They pick up at 7:30
That gives me anxiety, I like to leave the hotel at 0635-0645 for rope drop

Yeah, it was definitely nicer before the pandemic when the shuttle ran every half hour. But I'm not going to complain, because it's wonderful that they still have a shuttle at all.

James, the much loved morning driver who has been with CCI for years, said Disney finally stopped asking ! I’m sure they have offered huge sums for that property over the years but I think 🤔 James said they are now in the third generation of family running the hotel…the grandchildren of the original owners.

I don’t typically ride in the morning, as I like to stretch my legs and get them warmed up for the park…but I do ride home at night, and sometimes during my afternoon break. It’s never been crowded full.

It can’t load wheelchairs or scooters, only strollers. I’ve always seen a lot of scooters up front charging so many people use those..and also many walk if the morning is pleasant (not raining).

It’s also about a $5-6 Uber ride….for when you really want to get back for that nap…🤣

Thanks everyone. My mom can't walk super long distances. She's not bad enough that she needs a scooter (or wheelchair), I was just trying to minimize walking when available.

If you are concerned about making the early bus just be up front 10 minutes before they leave to insure you won't have a problem. But be sure to go by the free breakfast before you leave because it's pretty good.

James is really good about ringing the trolley bell to let you know he’s coming…I always hear it from my room….

The other thing I’ve noticed is how polite and courteous the CCI guests are….someone always offers me a seat or lets me board first…I guess I look older than I think! 🤔 :rotfl2:

So true! The pick-up point (#13) is shared by one of the Hyatts, Majestic Gardens, and CCI. From a picture in a post above, it looks like CCI is scheduled for :15 after the hour. Magestic is at :15 and :45 after the hour. I think the Hyatt is at about :10 and maybe :40 (not sure if they do it once or twice an hour). Definitely ALWAYS double (triple) check the shuttle you're getting on! CCI's is much more obvious that Hyatt and some of Majestic's.
