Trying to decide! We are taking a last minute trip and arriving tomorrow night. We can get a room for basically the same price. I hear you can take the Toy Story parking shuttle to the parks for free from next to the Homewood Suites. Is the Candy Cane Inn really truly walkable? will the TS bus get stuck in traffic and take forever to arrive at the resort? I can't decide!!!

The toy story buses take a different route down clementine so they don't get caught in the harbor traffic at all. You still may have a wait at the TS lot to load onto a bus , or returning at night. In late October we went and after the parks closed had a good 30 minute wait to board the bus because there were so many people. It wasn't inefficient at all , it was just busy so you just have to be prepared for that to happen is all. There is a constant stream but some guests require more assistance to load first so understanding this can slow things down also.

CCI is wonderful and IS walkable. It takes DH and myself about 15 minutes but remember they offer a free dedicated shuttle as well that is for guests only and has always been on time and rarely packed in our experience.
If you have younger kids the walk may be longer but definitely doable.

I jusr stayed at CCI last month and loved it. Very clean, comfy beds, good free continental breakfast, free parking. And it's totally walkable, though we took the shuttle a few times when our feet were tired!

I haven't tried Homewood Suites, but it's probably worth a try! One thing to remember when factoring the price is that some of the hotels charge for parking and don't offer breakfast - be sure to consider that when price comparing.

Edited to add: Looks like Homewood offers a full breakfast and other cool amenities. I'd sure give it a try, especially if the cost is the same!

Homewood Suites has free dinner reception Monday through Thursday as well as free hot breakfast daily. They do have a parking fee I think. We are staying next week and can't wait to try it out.

Where exactly would you catch the Toy Story parking shuttle from? How far would you have to walk to catch it? And would you have to pay to use it? Just interested - we have booked at CCI for next year, but actually Homewood is $30 per night cheaper than what we have got booked, and the rooms seem a lot bigger. Also we wouldn't need a rollaway. Has anyone had the breakfast there - is it any good?

Basically you walk north on harbor to the Toy Story Parking light - cross the street and on that side there is a pedestrian walkway.

Google maps can help in most questions lol.

It's about .3 miles or a 5 minute walk approximately from the new homewood suites.
There is no fee to take this transportation.

We have stayed at many HS, and always have a great experience. In fact we will be at the new one in about 3 weeks!
Breakfasts are have always been pretty good. Waffles, cereal, bacon or sausage, eggs of some sort, fruit, yogurt, bagels, muffins, etc. Nothing gourmet, but it's free which is a huge savings!
They also have an evening dinner M-TH along with beer and wine. A nice added extra!

You may go ahead a book both until you decide Homewood prices seem to keep going up, I booked our room when you could first start booking, a king suite with bunk beds for $149/night now I think it is like $200/night....also the longer the stay the cheaper it is at Homewood, or at least that is how it was when I booked. You do have to pay to park there but there is a free breakfast and free drinks and a snack in the evening during the week, you also have a full kitchen in a lot of the rooms so that could help save some money if you bring your own stuff

We stay at Homewood Suites frequently and their breakfasts are always hearty and not carb loaded only like some. Usually they have eggs and meat (sausage, bacon, etc). The dinner can be most of a meal, it's usually more than the concierge at DLR provides. One we stayed at had pulled pork sandwiches, corn on the cob and coleslaw for instance. I think you can google for their dinner menus, which should be similar to what they would provide. Plus, coffee/tea/hot chocolate all day. We are planning on breakfast at the hotel, lunch at the parks, and then dinner supplemented with food in the fridge (my kids are picky) at nights Mon-Thu, and dinner at Disney on Fri-Sun. We always come back midday anyway so this way we can have a rest period and then eat before closing out the parks.

Also, if you spend a lot of time in the room, the bigger rooms are a huge plus. We have 3 kids and can fit in one room but are on top of each other. For everyone's sanity, it's a lot better to have more room :D

I might try booking for HS as well as CCI - last time I looked HS was actually $30 cheaper per night than what we are booked at CCI for, and we wouldn't need a rollaway which we would at CCI. Has anyone ever tried the sofa beds at a HS?
