Candy Around the World???

What a great idea! I just mentioned this to my family, and boy were they excited!! DD will be doing a "Christmas Around the World" project during our Nov/Dec trip. Maybe we can share some treats with her classmates.

Poky (sp) from Japan - yum!
Also - anything chocolate in Italy.
I did this for a gift for someone once - they loved it!

Have fun!

Laura

What a fun gift idea! I love it!

Another enthusiastic vote for Mitsukoshi in Japan!!!! :Pinkbounc

They sell something I can only describe as bags of rock candy with some jawbreakers mixed in... lots of different flavors and colors, and the bags themselves are very pretty. Another great thing is that it's relatively inexpensive... I think about $3.50 a bag.

Oh yeah... and I'll also add another vote for Pocky. It's long, thin cookie sticks, covered in all different types of chocolate (milk, dark, strawberry-flavored white, etc.).

Kudos to you for your great idea! I know you'll make lots of great memories "candy hunting!" :teeth: :magnify:

Last year, I got chocolate from every country. It was for my father (a chocoholic). Of course, when he ate some, I did too!!!! :) It was a lot of fun shopping in every country. I also did the penny press in every country. It was good cheap fun!!!

We did this too last time we were there! We got hooked on several types of candy from Japan, including Pocky. There were these other little candies there too that were in the shape of pine cones and were little cookies dipped in chocolate. yum.

This past December we were at WDW the 18-23rd. We have a huge family gathering at our house on Christmas eve. As a way to share our trip with all of our family DD and I bought cookies from around the world. It was fun picking them out and even more fun eating them and telling everyone which country they were from!

I love the Haribo Gold Bears (gummy's) from Germany although WDW sells them for $2.29 a bag when you can get them at Walgreens for 0.99....

I also love fruit gums from UK but they haven't carried them in years, last time I asked it had something to do with the food color/additives?? I'm not sure - I miss those though!

:wave2: Hi, I'm Chloé - Laura's kid. Eating around the world is one of our favorite things to do, especially candy!!!!

Mitsukoshi, MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM! :earboy2: Pocky is good! Koala's March is like a little cookie with a picture of a koala on it with chocolate filling. YanYan is like Pocky only you get to dip the biscuit sticks in the frosting. Milky is not for people who have braces (like me :) ); it's a hard, sticky candy that tastes a little like vanilla. Kaki Gori isn't a candy, but it's shave ice, and very good on a hot day.

In the UK, there's Flaky. It's layers of chocolate, and it crumbles in your mouth. I think their chocolate is better than ours (U.S.'). Buttons are little disks of white chocolate. Shortbread cookies taste buttery. yummmm...

Believe me, there's more favorite candies where that came from!

The World Showcase is a GREAT place to satisfy the MUNCHIES!!!!!
Candy, snacks, food, drink...they got it all!

I always get Baci (hazelnut/dark chocolate, with a "love note" in the wrapper!) from Italy! I love those things, but they're easier to find in stores now too, so I don't feel a huge need to get them in Epcot every time. They're about .65-.75 each and yummy! :p
