How long do you think the candy apples from Karmel Kuche @ Germany will keep for? Just wondering if I buy one and don't eat it right away or buy it at the end of our trip to bring home..will it be okay???

I can't say for certain, but anytime I buy caramel apples at home (from russell stovers) usually you need to eat them within a few days...2-3.

Do you mean caramel apples?

I had a caramel and chocolate apple from Karamell Kuche. They cut it in to 4 pieces for me and I ate one piece a day for the next 4 days. Like any cut apple, it was turning brownish, but it tasted fine. Oh, I kept it in a fridge though.

It could probably keep longer if it's whole and not cut in pieces. But again, it probably still needs to be refrigerated or the caramel and chocolate would get too soft and make a huge mess.

If you're flying you can't take them on the plane; we found this out the hard way a few years ago. :sad2: TSA considered the wooden stick through them a weapon. We got one of the big decorative looking ones at Goofy's. We either had a grouchy representative or it's the rules.

Sorry..yes I meant the caramel/chocolate apples:) I didn't know they would cut them for you..thanks for posting that!

Thanks for letting me know about the flight..will have to go in my checked luggage then.

I'm really not sure if trying to put it in your checked luggage is a great idea either. You have to pack, check out, take ME, get to the airport, and take off-all the while that apple is sitting in outside temps. Remember, the bus luggage area and airport luggage handling is not airconditioned, and the bags will be sitting outside for quite a while in the lovely Orlndo sunshine. Looks like you're going the same time as us, so your caramel is subjected to 90 deg F. temps for 3-4 hours minimum BEFORE you get up in the air. It could very well be a puddled mess by the time you get home.

just curious - why didn't you just remove the stick :confused3

:worship::lmao:Now there's a 'Doh' moment! It makes such perfect sense. In hindsight! But I know that I've often had that 'deer in the headlights' feeling when getting the hairy eyeball from a TSA agent.:lmao::rotfl:

We tried, we couldn't yank it out.

edit: The caramel was like cement to the stick. We both tried to yank it out and the woman who was telling us we couldn't take it was getting fussy at us so we just pitched it to avoid the hassle.

We always buy caramel apples as our last stop at the Confectionary on our way out of the Magic Kingdom on our last day. We stick them in one of our carryons (never had an issue with airport security - that would stink!), and put them in the fridge when we get home. It's usually a few days before we get around to cutting one open and they're always PERFECT :)

Maybe you just had a cranky TSA agent. :( We brought the apples back home as a carry on the past 2 trips (most recently in April). I had them through the xray scanner, but they handed the perfectly packed apples back to us. They last a couple days after cutting them. We always buy a couple to eat while on property, and take the others home for gifts. In December, they make them look like Santa hats! I think that the Goofy's Candy Company apples are some of the best I've ever had!!

Yep. You had a crabby TSA worker. We have no problem taking home caramel apples (except that they always ask if it is a snowglobe). Good to know that it could happen though.

If you have a fridge in your room, you could definitely take it back and eat it through out your trip. I wouldn't recommend taking it home though. BTW, I loved the apples there. They were amazing!!
