I love candles...their warm glow and calming scents. I usually have several burning at my home. I have tried different brands. I am not a big fan of the Yankee Candle, the scent is just not strong enough for me. I have been looking at getting some tarts and a burner, hoping that it would fill my home with fragrance.

So, I am wondering if I coulod just make my own tarts and candles? It would be nice to customize scents and give them as gifts. Any thoughts???

I really like the warm and spicey scents. I do occasionaly burn a pine in winter or clean scent in the summer. Thanks!!!

My girls and I did this one year as a gift for my wife. They picked the colors/scents/shapes/etc. It really wasn't all that hard to do to be honest.

It will be very expensive to do if you don't get the stuff on sale whereever you get it. Michaels has half price on their big blocks of wax all the time. Once you have the equipment, all other times you make the candles you just need to buy scent/wax/coloring.

I really do believe that this is not a 'all the time' thing though. My wife burns a lot of candles and it costs us much less for her to buy them. She even does the partylite and I think they have good deals sometime.

Good luck!

I went through a period where I made my own candles. It took a lot of time, ended up costing as much (or more) than store-bought, and honestly didn't smell any better. But it was fun to do!
