Hi all

Decided to splash out some $$$ on a little pre-christmas treat for the family and surprise them with a reservation for the Candlelight Processional Dinner Package at EPCOT.

.....so I need some advice on which restaurant to choose (VFM/quality of food/dining experience etc) which would best suit us all - 6 Adults (2 of whom are slightly fussy with food) and 2 kids (age 12 + 14) who are very fussy eaters !

The options available are -

Tier 1: $30.99

Biergarten – Germany
Garden Grill - The Land

Tier 2: $38.99

San Angel Inn – Mexico
Nine Dragons Restaurant - China
Rose and Crown - UK
Restaurant Marrakesh – Morocco

Tier 3: $45.99

Le Cellier Steakhouse - Canada
Chefs de France - France
Mitsukoshi Teppanyaki - Japan
L’Orignale Alfredo di Roma Ristorante - Italy
Coral Reef- The Living Seas

All opinions appreciated.

thanks

It shouldn't matter too much where you eat as far as the kids who are a bit fussy are concerned, I don't think. There is usually something "kidlike" on the menu for them, like chicken nuggets for example.

I've not done either of the restaurants in Tier 1, but have done 3 in Tier 2: Nine Dragons Restaurant - China Really enjoyed it here, made a nice change from fries and mash to be honest.

Rose and Crown - UK Was not expecting to be overwhelmed with the food here, but really enjoyed it again.

Restaurant Marrakesh – Morocco - we had a less than average meal here on our last trip, sadly. We love Moroccan food but it was awful. We could have been unlucky because I had read many many good reports before.

If you have fussy adults Rose & Crown may be the best choice there? Check out the menus on All Ears Net to see if the food appeals.

From Tier 3 we have eaten in Le Cellier twice (once as part of the CP package). The food is superb. A really good expeirnce both times for us and I don;t hesitate to recommend to anyone :)

Good luck! The CP is a wonderfully uplifting show and the dining package is an excellent way to avoid spending hours in line :)

Hi,

We have booked for Italy as we had a lovely meal and the atmosphere was great when we ate there last year. Didn't rate Le Cellier at all, we had a poor meal there. Have a great time might see you there!!

Chefs de France is my favourite WS restaurant. Excellent service, well-presented and delicious food plus a wonderful setting. Le Cellier is great too - the CMs here are very friendly, and the food is delicious. I enjoyed L’Orignale Alfredo di Roma Ristorante as well. I love the atmosphere of the Italian pavillion. The food was okay, but not overwhelming. The only other place we have tried on that list is San Angel Inn. This used to be one of my favourite restaurants (the setting is truly wonderful - with the boats going by, the dimmed lighthing and the volcano). However, on our last trip the service was a little rushed and the tables were extremely close together. The food is good, though.

Why don't you check out AllEars and have a glance at the menus? You can choose somewhere which has something for all your family, then.

Have a great trip!

Thanks guys

Checked out the menus.....all too tempting !

Has anyone had dinner at the Garden Grill situated in the Land pavillion - it gets a 'best in class' rating on the DIS and has loads of v.good reviews - I like the idea of a 'family platter' style meal which would probably suit all in our party - also thought that the kids (the young and the not so young !!!) would really enjoy the character interaction.

Let me know how you rate it.

We had breakfast there a few years ago, and it's a meal we rated very highly.

The overall experience was great (it was a character meal) and we still look back on it with fondness.

The food was very, very good too (although comapring breakfast with dinner may not help you too much :) )

I'd have no hesitation eating there again

Tyke- We ate in the Garden Grill as part of the CP package last year. We saw the 6.30pm-ish show (can't remember the exact time!) and then ate afterwards at 7.45pm. It was of the highlights on our holiday, our server was very chatty, full of smiles and the food was delicious and lots of it. Characters came round more than once as well!
The only downside was that we didn't get seated until 8.20pm (over 30 minutes from our original PS time), as it seemed everyone had just seen the CP at the same time and therefore arrived at the same time! As we had took our time leaving the show, there was a queue to get seated. So my advice is to get there asap if you decide to eat after a show!

Thanks for the info

Is the CP dinner package flexible - ie: can we choose to eat dinner at say 6:00 and then reserve seating for the 8:15pm show !

When we booked tyke, we were given a range of choices - I would call and book asap though as when I did this (nearly 3 months in advance) already some restaurants were sold out at certain times.

I ended up not going to my first or second choice restaurant as the timing was more important to me - and I shuffled the restaurant I had wanted to eat at for CP to another day :)

the garden grill food was 'fine'....not fantastic, not terrible......and the CMs were very nice (aren't CMs always nice?)..
for the candlelight processional, i think the garden grill would be my choice.....for the other restaurants i'd want to focus only on the restaurant and not combine it with anything else (like the CP)...

We did garden Grill and enjoyed it CP gets you into the christmas sprit even when its so hot and the singers were dropping (fainting in heat)like flys if you want to get in holiday mood do Osborne lights a MGM as well we mised out at they were building Lights motor action at the time

i loved the garden grill, the food was good and the service was excellent. You cant beat a good character meal to get you into the disney spirit. And i loved the unique feel to the restaurant - the way it revolves and the scenery changes etc.
