Has anyone ever gone to the Candlelight Processional at Epcot? If so, what did you think? When will they announce the narrators and when can I book a dinner package? So many questions! :flower: I've read a little about the processional and thought my family might enjoy it. Any thoughts are appreciated.
Thanks!

It's a beautiful, festive show. It certainly gets you into the Christmas spirit.

The packages went on sale in September last year and the narrators were known a couple weeks before that I believe.

We saw this for the first time Dec. '04 and LOVED it! This show is absolutely breathtaking. Definately a must do for us now. We're headed back this Dec. and are planning on doing it again!

I saw it for the first time in December 2003, once with the package and once without. I think you'd have to be a true Grinch not to be moved by it. It was incredible, and I can't wait to see it again this year. I actually think I had better seats when I didn't do the dinner package. Maybe that's because I was solo, and it's easier to squeeze into a seat as a solo than to find stand-by seating for 4 people. Also, this was fairly early in the month-maybe it gets more crowded closer to the 25th. Also, I saw 2 different speakers-don't think either one made a difference in my experience, they were both OK. If you want to do the package (I don't regret doing it), make ressies as soon as you can-no need to find out who the speaker is, IMHO.

You can probably expect the information to be released at the end of August or beginning of September.

It's a lovely show, the narrators, the cast choir, and of course the school choirs really make it complete. Make sure you see it.

I absolutely loved the Candlelight Processional. Listening to the Christmas story being read and the beautiful carols being sung, all under a starlit sky on a warm Florida night was just an inspiring experience for me. On the other hand, my 20ish daughter thought it was BORING! In short, great for "mature" audiences, not so much for kids.

Wendydarling --

I had to chuckle when I read your post. I am moved to tears by the CP every single year when we go, without fail. I don't know whether it is the music (I am a piano/music teacher) or the narration, or the sign language interpreters or the camaraderie of watching it with all those other people who are there... well... all of them except my two children (DDs 19 & 27) who also find it boring. But (and for this I love them dearly) they go with us every year and start looking at me after the lights go down. :love1:

(I just know they are taking bets on when the tears will start to flow.)

Thanks for your posts. I'm looking forward to a special evening. Hopefully my kids won't be too bored. I'll keep my eye out for the dates to be posted. Thanks again! :sunny:

Wouldn't miss it! My DH and I have been going since 2003 and it is one of the highlights of our trip to Epcot. We heard Ben Vereen narrate in '03 and Heather Headley (Nala from Broadway's The Lion King) last year. Both times we have gotten the dinner package - 2003 was at the Garden Grill character dinner, last year was at the Biergarten. When we called to get our MVMCP tickets for this year (11/29), we asked about the dinner packages for the CP. You can make your reservations for the dinner 90 days out from when you plan on going, just like any other dinner reservations for Disney restaurants. Hope this helps! :)

We have never seen it but we were eating dinner outside the American adventure and could hear it and saw some of it! From what I heard and saw, it looked wonderful. Next time it will be on the to do list for sure!

Everyone is different.

My 19 year old DD and I went in 2004, she loved it. Although we have a trip planned for the end of August she is begging for even just a "short weekend trip" in December, said she has to see the CP again!

Thanks again for the info. Hey kima86, I noticed you live in Chesterton, IN. I live in Crown Point - We're neighbors! :flower: We're also going to MVMCP on 11/29 for the first time. I'm so excited! Maybe we'll bump into each other.

The CP is amazing, it gave my husband and I goosebumps. And I started to well up also, it is almost impossible not to. We bought the CD right after the show. It is not to be missed.

We absolutely love it. We will be going again this year.

Glad I could help out a fellow Hoosier with some info! You'll love it that time of year...usually good temps and hardly any crowds. DH & I will be wearing our matching Santa Mickey & Minnie Mouse hats...amongst all the others! :teeth:

OK, I'm totally new and haven't a clue.

Can you just get tickets to the show? You don't HAVE to have dinner, right? What are the ticket prices to the show WITHOUT dinner, if that is possible?

also

How long does it last?

If you want to go without the dinner package, you just get in the standby line. There are no tickets, it's free. How early you have to get in line depends on the date. Weekdays early in the month, 30 to 45 minutes would work. A couple of times we've just walked in minutes before showtime and found seats (early in the month). Weekends and closer to Christmas, you would need more time. A popular narrator would cause longer lines. Christmas Eve would probably be the most difficult.

It's about 45 minutes.

I just realized people should take note that this is FREE. Occassionally Disney does offer some free things. A couple other free things in Epcot are the tour of Morocco and the Email postcards. I remember when the Land tour was free, and now it's not. Let's hope the CP remains free.
