Candlelight Processional

I just stand back by the American Adventure area. You can see and hear things just fine. Sure you have people walking in front of you, beats waiting for hours to have a seat. But that is just what I like to do. Got to meet Mr. and Mrs. Claus too.

I was thinking of doing this...I have a 17 month old and I doubt waiting 45 minutes even if we get the dining package and then sitting through the show is going to happen.

Was there space to walk/stand/sit? I was thinking the 5 or 645 show on the Sunday after thanksgiving. Assuming you can hear everything can you see a little bit? Or not at all?

You can sit at the outside tables across the way at Liberty Inn and hear very well, but you can't see much. It will also depend on how many people decide to stop and stand at the back for a quick listen/look. They will definitely block the small view you have.

A lot depends on the narrator. There are times when I've walked in 5 minutes before show time on a weeknight and got a seat in the back. But that was for a less popular narrator (I think it was a former Miss America).

In our case, you can only hear if the people are aren't talking up a storm. We had planned to sit there and shortly before the show, a group came and talked how great the show was. The problem is they kept talking and talking.

Yeah, I guess that would be a bummer. There was no one else out there the year we did it.

That's the night we've been looking for a CP package. We just found out recently that our daughter will be performing in the CP that night, so we've been scrambling to make out trip reservations. Unfortunately, and not surprisingly, that date is completely sold out for the dining package. We've been calling every morning hoping for a cancellation, but so far nothing. We'll keep at it though! :)

Not sure about your flexibility, but I've seen several openings for 12/3 today while searching for a solo.

We go to see Santa. Usually mid week in early December so it is not all that crowded even with Lavar Burton last year. I could see okay. People were walking in front constantly though. My wife stood on a brick wall holding a sign and flowers. Nobody said anything to her and a few others stood on it too. We had to stand the whole show to see it. I thought we could hear pretty well. It is not the best situation if you really want to see the show. But with an 8 year old, I know he wouldn't wait in line, then watch the show. So it worked for us.

I chose to go in line at 3:30pm after my Candlelight Processional Lunch Dining Package last December to see Whoopi Goldberg for the early show. The standby line was hours long at that point, the CP Package line was backed up to past Morrocco. None of the standby folks got in on that show. I didn't know about the wristband thing so maybe some of those people got in.
As soon as the show was over I bolted from that area - the crowds were scary, just too many people in the American area.

I am doing another Dining Package this year for NPH and am planning on getting in the CP line as soon as my dinner is over for the 8:15pm show which is what I chose.
He's so popular that I am expecting it to be extremely crowded.
We went last year the first wk of December, lined up maybe 1 hour before with CP package line was also backed clear back to Morrocco. Told the DW that it was the first time I walked through 2 countries to see a show! We did see Whoopi at the 5pm show and it was worth it.

I am looking to go to one of the shows with NPH from 11/30-12/3. I am pretty flexible on day/time. I know he will be a popular to see so I am just trying to figure out an ideal plan prior to going.

I know now that you have a plan, but NPH is wicked popular. I would keep the ADR so you do not spend so much of your day waiting.

WE did the same thing. Our package was at CR, and based on previous experience there, we decoded to try to check in early, and thank goodness the stars aligned and we were seated about 30 minutes prior to our ADR. Holy Long line when we left!We went straight to the CP line and it was already starting to lengthen. We were glad we did though, the seats we chose were awesome, as was his performance. It bears notice that the performers for this show are really stellar as well.

I've had a CP Dining Package ADR at Les Chefs at 2:30 on 12/2 for 5:00 CP. We really wanted the 6:45 CP show instead of 5:00 so it will be dark during the show, so I'd like to change showtimes to 6:45. I just snagged a CP ADR at Les Chefs at 4:30 for the 8:15 CP. If I called to ask to change the 4:30 ADR to the 6:45 CP, would that be cutting it too close to get from dinner at Chefs at 4:30 to the CP show at 6:45? I've never eaten at Les Chefs, so I'm not sure how long it will take, and never been to a CP, so I'm not sure of the lines forming prior to showtime with CP package. If you have the CP Dining Package, are you guaranteed a seat for the CP at your specified showtime? I guess I don't understand the lining up so far in advance of when the show starts when you have paid for the package. Any advice of whether to just keep the 2:30 ADR with 5:00 show, try to change the 5:00 show to 6:45, or choose the 4:30 ADR with 8:15 show and try to move it to 6:45?

People line up in advance even when they have a package to get the seating they want.

This is exactly our plan on Dec 5th 5pm show........hopefully won't be too bad. We have a 5:30pm ADR at Via Napoli so we figure we'll get to see(hear) a lot (not all) of the show.

Neil Patrick Harris is the narrator for your date, and he is one of, if not THE most popular narrators of the season. They will open up the stand by line at 30 min before the show, so if you're not in your seat by then, your guaranteed seat is no longer guaranteed. I would be in line no later than 45 min, as that line will be very long and it will take some time to get all the package people into the theater.

For that reason, I would not try to change your 4:30 ADR to the 6:45 show. You won't be seated on time, and it would be really sad if you're still eating at 6:00. Either keep the 2:30 with the 5:00 or keep the 4:30 with the 8:15. The later dinner/show would be my choice.

After reading how long the lines to get in even with the dining package, I'm now wondering about my 2:30 ADR at Les Chefs and whether there will be enough time to get to the 5:00 CP if we are seated late, if the dinner runs long, lines line up hours before. I called Disney Dining to ask to switch our 5:00 CP to the 6:45 CP and they told me to just ask at the restaurant, that whatever ADR you made, that time was what you had, you couldn't change it, but could ask at the restaurant and they might let you go to the later show. I really didn't want to go the 8:00 CP because that would be a really long day for my 82 year old mom. Any thoughts on this?

I would be at Les Chefs no later than 2:00 and check in. That should get you seated at least close to on time. When you're seated, ask to go ahead and pay and get your CP vouchers (or whatever they are), so that when you finish eating, you can go ahead and leave. I think you'll be okay.

Thanks for your reply. I will try that.

We have a package for the 8:15 CP on December 30. But our meal is a lunch meal, at 1:00. So what time should we line up?

My wife and I are going to EPCOT on Dec 30th. I really don't want to pay $100+ for reserved seating, so I'm hoping we can sneak in with the standby line. Amy Grant is the celebrity at the time. Is there a certain show that tends to be less crowded? Or am I out of luck?

We saw Amy Grant a couple of years ago. We really enjoyed her.

I believe that the first show is generally the least crowded/easiest to get into via standby.

Enjoy!

The same "rule" applies. Be in or around the American Theater around 2 hours before your show, so you can keep an eye on the line. You'll probably be okay lining up around 45 min before, but there's no way of knowing. As long as your in the line when they start letting them in the theater, you will get your seat. Make sure you're in the package line and NOT the standby line.
