That doesn't make much sense. I'm sure many locals come in to have dinner & see the show, they aren't going to want to eat in the middle of the afternoon, especially during the week.

I agree with you 100% on this. We are actually going with a friend that works at Disney and now we can only go to the 8:15 show due to the dining times. What a bummer

The new dining times cut our chances of getting what we want by 1/3 because everyone will be fighting to get packages with the two later shows to avoid having to eat so early. I want to see this on Christmas Day. My mission was going to be hard enough without Disney playing around with things.

I think the option of a lunch and the 5:00 show is a pretty good idea for those who are taking children. We'll have our DD4 with us, and I know we'll be better off with that plan. I think those without children will benefit too if more parents choose the earlier package.

So does that mean you can no longer make your dining reservations for after the show? We've always made reservations for the 6:30 show, then dined at 7:45 or 8:00. If we can't do that anymore, that means that's the end of our package days!

That's precisely what it means. All dining times will be prior to the show, as your 'CP Pass' will be obtained from the restaurant.

When you think about the fact that the gratuity is no longer included the prices have really gone up on these packages. This has been quite a weekend. Rates up on tickets, resort tax and CP package.

So, by not including tax and gratuity, it's about a 24% increase just for that. Plus, what is the point of telling us when we have to eat? It also looks like the Tier 3 dinner may end up being 2TS on the DDP.

I think I will pass on this for this year. I've seen it once, I can try for a seat in the regular line, and if not, just sit somewhere nearby and listen. We did this on Christmas Day last year (after seeing it on Christmas Eve) and it was just as moving.

To the best of our knowledge, only 1 TS credit is going to be needed for Tier 3 meals. They have always tried to have people eat before the later shows...every time I have booked the package they have given me times before the show I wanted. And now...with the DDP, there are a lot fewer spots open. With everyone frantically booking the 'better' restaurants (and I use that term loosely since what I like may not be what you like), and hoping to convert to packages, I think we are going to see a lot of slots open up. We have been told from day one that we wouldn't be able to convert existing ADRs for a package ADR....I would be more than a little miffed if I played by the rules and then Disney allowed people to convert.
Bookings going down? Nope, not going to happen. Believe me, Disney does very little that will hurt them. They have changed things because they can, and not lose money. There are always a ton of people buying the CP packages...I've stood in that line before, and the line is long. I've waited over an hour and been half way down the line. And that was the package holders line. I have never seen the frantic waiting for CP bookings to open up like they are this year. I wonder why? This is something. So....as of yet I have nothing reserved for our CP night. Hoping to get Alfredo's, seating around 5ish, for the late show. I like it to be dark when I see CP and I don't like being rushed when I eat. So, anything before 5:30 works for me, and it looks like it's going to work for DIsney also. I just wish they would start booking so everyone can calm down a bit. Besides people.....did you all think the free dining was truly free??? Someone, somehow, was going to pay for it. Looks like Disney is recouping some of the money...raising prices for packages, ticket prices. Unfortunatley, it would seem that even those who are not taking advantage of the free dining are still helping to finance it. Of course, I could be way off base here. But, there are a lot of increases all at the same time.

I'm torn on the issue. While I dont like that the times are so limited for each show, they are booking what I had hoped to get, so it works for me right now. However seeing that I want this on Christmas and I only have a 1 hour time slot to get it, has me nervous.

While the lunch option won't work for me on this trip due to my plans that day, I do think it is a good option for those who want to cut the cost some or like to eat early. But, I don't like that there is no choice in the matter. I wouldn't want to do the early show because it's light out, but maybe another time the lunch thing would fit my schedule.

I guess my biggest gripe is still that I have to pay almost $50.00 for my DS to eat a plate of plain pasta, 7 days past his 10th birthday.

DH and I just decided (Ok, I decided he agreed ) if we can't get what we want... Alfredos 5:00-6:00 with the late show on Christmas, we will skip the package, eat at YSH then walk over and just listen outside. In honesty, I'm the only one in the family who really wants to do it anyway.

I agree with your post. Disney will do what it can to make as much money as possible. It just limits my options now. I hope all works out for us to go. I'm very limited in where I can eat due to allergies so I have my fingers crossed.

Didn't resort rates go up for 2007 too? I couldn't find the info on that. AKL now has a charge for bunks and then there's the new "summer" season as well.

As goofy4tink said Disney is going to look out for Disney and they will make changes because they can. I do find it interesting that just on this page alone there a three people including myself that are saying I guess I'll skip it this year. Will Disney stay awake at night because I'm not booking? NO. But any good business is going to listen to it's customers. That's how you stay in business. IMO

A disney CM stated on another thread that all the packages would still be 1 TS. Did you hear the tier 3 restuarants would be 2 TS from someone at Disney?
