How crowded is the Candlelight Processional usually? Is it the type of event that you need to line up really early to get a seat (like Fantasmic), or is it pretty easy to get a seat at?
Like Fantasmic, there are dinner packages for CP. What is different from Fantasmic is the dinner package guests are seated first and get the front sections, they are seated about 30 minutes before. The standby guests are seated about 10 or 15 minutes before the performance starts in the remaining seats. Depending on the performance, package guests can take most of the seats, leaving few for standbys. I've heard Christmas Eve usually sells out for packages, I don't know if they seat any standbys that night. We usually go the first or second week of December and have gotten standby seats during the week by getting in line 30 to 45 minutes before. Weekends are usually more crowded. Alot depends on the narrator. One night when we were there in 2001, Wayne Brady was the narrator, he is a native of Orlando and it was very crowded. There was a long standby line for the 8:15 show when the 6:45 started, they probably did not get in for the 6:45 and just waited. We ended up sitting at the tables outside the American Adventure counter service restaurant and just listened from there (too many people were standing in the back to see anything from there). Another time we got good seats about 5 minutes before, we never heard of the narrator and he wasn't that good, which probably explained no line.
I agree with the above. I have gone quite a few times, always early Dec and always with a dinner package. At that time of the year, I would say about 1/3 is dinner seats, 2/3 not. But to get a seat, you do need to get there at least 30-45 minutes before. Enjoy, it is beautiful, a Disney classic of the holiday season.
