Candlelight Processional credit card guarantee question

Does anyone know how this works if you are using the DDP? Is your credit card charged and credited when you use DDP or do you just have to give a credit card number which is only charged if needed or if you do not show up?

Also, what if you decided to cancel your ressie? Would you get a refund?
