Anyone ever traded their points to stay in Cancun? Is so, any thoughts?
Just DH and myself, no kids.

Thanks

I haven't traded my points but have been to Cancun and visited a number of the exchange options. I'd take any of the 4 Royals though May, June, Sep, Oct and early Dec will likely be easily available elsewhere for less. They are world class resorts every bit the equal to DVC in their own way. They are also resorts where asking for a 1 BR and getting a 2 BR is not that unlikely.

I gave my son some points for his honeymoon and he and his new wife stayed at the Royal Caribbean. They said it was wonderful! Loved it! Beautiful! Someday I would love to go only problem is that we can't stop wanting to do to Disney World.

Someday we want to use points for Hawaii.............

Hey fellow Seattleite (is that a word?)

Never exchanged points yet, but stayed at a timeshare for our honeymoon in Cancun. Was an August trip, I thought Florida in August was hot. Had fun, liked Chichen Itza and Xcaret (although enjoy Cabo more). Would echoe what Dean inferred that there may be better options for getting availability in Cancun than using DVC points. There are a million timeshares down there in varying quality. Imagine there would be cheaper options for some of the better ones.

We traded points for the Royal Carribean for our first anniversary in early November. We got a two-bedroom for the points of a one-bedroom, and since it's just the two of us, we've invited a friend along. I just hate having that whole hotel room sit empty!

Anyway, I've done tons of reading about the Royals and am very much looking forward to the trip!

While I've never traded my DVC points, I did trade another timeshare for the Royal Mayan, and really enjoyed it! The Royal Mayan, Royal Caribbean, and Royal Islander are adjacent to each other, and if you stay at one, you have pool privileges, etc. at all three.
I particularly enjoyed side trips to Chitzen Itza, and Xel-Ha. Also liked Xcaret, but liked Xel-Ha better.
