Cancelling WDW trip?

We're most likely cancelling our trip this weekend and will be looking to re-schedule (not right now, at a later date) for sometime over the holiday season.

My budget related question is this: if we call to cancel, will be get our deposit back? Our due date for everything is at the end of July; we've got two reservation numbers (two rooms) and I sure do not want to be out $400.00, and we're not ready to re-book.

as long as you're 46 or more days out from your trip you will get all your $$$ back.

We wouldn't have checked in until September 3, so that's great news. (Well, not great news to cancel, but at least we're not out $400; thanks!)

what about if you purchased the insurance? will you still get the whole deposit back or only the amount after paying the insurance?

We had to cancel my in laws trip this past December because my father in law had a stroke in September. They refunded everything except for the insurance....its better than nothing!!

We didn't do trip insurance. I've never had to cancel or re-schedule before, until now.
