I have a flight home from Orlando booked through SW. I really want to stay an extra day, but SW flights for the next day are outrageous. I see a reasonable flight on Jet Blue. Can I cancel my SW flight and get credit? I know I have rebooked and gotten credit that had to be used within a year of original booking. Does the same apply to completely cancelling a flight?

Yes

Yes, you can cancel up to 10 minutes before the flight and you will get a credit in SW funds for use for up got one year from original purchase date-so mark the calendar so you don't lose the credits--although I think SW will allow you to extend the credit for a fee if you contact them (hopefully before the funds expire)

Yes, as others have said, cancel and get your credit. Take note of the date you need to use it by, and also take note of your reservation #, that is your credit ID.

Ironically, you have to wait for the credits to expire to extend them, you have 6-12 months to extend them (I forget exactly). I think now they charge $100, but they become LUV vouchers, which are nice because anyone can use them, no longer tied to the original traveler.

How does it work if you booked your flight on points and want to cancel? I don't have anything I want to cancel, but just for future knowledge. TIA!

That is a good question. We have booked flights in the past with points and haven't had to cancel, but it is my understanding that there is no fee to return the points and there are no further restrictions on using the points within a certain amount of time. Hope so!:goodvibes

Well that would be great, lol, and really only makes sense. When you change they give the point difference back and there's no further action regarding them. Not sure how they'd make you rebook with the points. Hope that's true also, and another reason I really like booking with points! Thx!

A key point: if you booked a wanna get away face, you get credit that you have a year to use.

BusinessSelect any Anytime fares may be refundable, with funds returned in the original method of payment. You still may need to cancel in advance.

Points just go back in your account. No restrictions/requirement for future use.
