Just to make sure I am correct, cancelling my September reservations will not cost me anything, correct? I am way over 45 days so does that mean I get back my deposit? I've never cancelled before, and we would like to rent DVC points instead. TIA

Do you have someone lined up to rent DVC points from? I would make sure that I had that set up before I canceled my package with Disney.

But yes, you will get everything back except for trip insurance (if you bought it) or airfare (again, if you purchased it through Disney). All funds will be returned to whatever form of payment was used. So if you used a credit card, you will get a credit on your account. If you used a gift card, it will go back on that same gift card.

I am looking to rent thru a 3rd party, but I will not cancel my Disney reservations until I have a DVC room secured.

Be aware that it is often not possible to cancel DVC reservations once made. If free dining is offered for your trip, it can't be applied to a DVC reservation. Be sure before you line up the DVC room that you understand what you are, and arent, getting.

The cost to rent points for DVC (with adding dining and park tix) worked out cheaper then going thru Disney using my 30% off pin. Once booked I will not cancel.

It sounds like you know what you are doing. Over the years some people have felt trapped or cheated by DVC rentals because they haven't understood the "unlikely cancel" and "no free dining" situation.

I am a crazy over thinker (sometimes too much for my own good), so I've read as much as I could about renting points. Just needed to clarify about the resort cancelling.

I'll still be up all night reading on points. Lol

Good idea to keep reading about points. September is not a busy month but there are certain rooms that are impossible to book unless it is the owner's home resort and you are at the 11-month booking window. As long as you understand this and are willing to take your second, third or even 4th choice of resorts, you should be fine.
