cancelling reservation made with banked points

Hi - long story - but if I have to cancel a reservation not at my home resort that I made with banked points do these points go into the holding account? I believe the holding account points have to be used in the current year. Not sure since these are banked points.

Points only go into holding if you are cancelling 30 days or less out from check in. Otherwise if you cancel more than 30 days out they are returned to the status they were when you made the reservation. In that case they would just be normal banked points. Banked points still means they will expire at the end of the UY unless they are used, just like holding points, but if holding gets the restriction that you can't make a reservation further than 60 days out from check in.
