Cancelling res then banking points?

Newbie question here!

My UY is June. If I make a reservation with my 2015 points for Oct/Nov now and then decide to cancel (well before my 30 day holding date) will those points be bankable or will they be stuck in my 2015 UY since they have been "used".

As long as you are still within your banking deadline, current points returned to your account may be banked.

With a June Use Year, you have until January 31 to bank points from the current Use Year. By using points from your 2015 use Year, you will have until 1/31/16 to bank current points and you will be fine with your 2015 Use Year points. There is no "penalty" for points returned to your account unless you cancel 30 days or less before arrival or are beyond your banking deadline.

Points are not really "used" until the arrival day of the reservation when they could no longer be returned to your account. Otherwise, they are just returned to your account, subject to any restrictions caused by the cancellation - within 30 days (Holding Account), from a non-DVC reservation (Reservation Points), beyond banking deadline (Must use by the end of their current Use Year).
