I have a DVC contract that is closing tomorrow that has way more points than the stripped contract I'm working with now and a different use year.

I have some reservations booked on this stripped contract that I would rather use the points of my contract that hasn't populated yet instead when the points show up.

Is there a way I can call member services and tell them I want to use points from a different membership for those reservations I already have booked without having to cancel the reservations i have and risk losing them? Or do i have to cancel these reservations and hope i can book them quickly on the new membership points as soon as they release?

Once I have reservations on two different memberships, can I stay in the same room if I have two reservations on one membership and two on the other on consecutive days that are the same room type, but I booked with different memberships?

It seems like i may end up with something like a room on one membership booked from September 10-11, then a room booked September 11-13 on another membership, and then 13-14 booked on first membership again and I want to stay in the same room 🤪 Any help is appreciated 😀

Were any of the bookings make within the 11 month window for the home resort? You wouldn't be able to swap in points from a different resort and keep that reservation in that case.

Otherwise this sounds like a case for point transfer I think?

Is this your September trip which is all booked under 7 months?

If so, member services would have to do a point transfer from one contract to the other and then potentially move points, but I think it still may mean they have to cancel and rebook if there isn't availability.

As for merging into one reservation, you can only do that if they are all booked on the same contract/points and the same room type/room view/category.

With your scenario, you can call MS and ask they note that it is one continuous stay across the different reservation numbers, and then at check in mention it at well and see if they can keep you in the same room. They won't be able to make it into one reservation number if its across contracts with different UY/Home Resorts.

Yes for the September trip! OK good to know they can't merge into one reservation on different memberships. I'm trying not to transfer points because of the having to keep track myself and all that.

I was thinking of canceling the reservations myself online when I get the other membership loaded and trying to book the rooms real quick on the other membership, but seems risky. If I drop a reservation is it going to show up right away or could there be a lag?

Both have happened to me. Cancelled and it was there for a little bit, cancelled and it was gone. I am guessing if a waitlist is in place maybe it gets pulled? Some report doing this at off hours like very early morning when they suspect others aren't online. It is a risk for sure.

Edit: I misread.

I tried cancel rebook the other day and failed.

I wouldn't gamble on requesting to not be moved personally

I just spoke to member services and they said that if there is a waitlist waiting to be filled by someone it will go to them if cancelled so I'm definetely not going to do that! Better to just book the remaining nights on the other membership and then put a request in to stay in the same room and ask at front desk

Did you book using any borrowed points on your stripped one? Borrowing can't be undone FYI.
If there was no borrowing, worst case would be cancel and rebook if the rooms are still available.
I sure did borrow fml now I have to use them, oh dear pita as everyone has told me 🤣🤣🤣

Can you bank transferred points? I know people told me I won't be able to see transferred points anymore on my dashboard, but if I call member services can they tell me how many points I have that arent showing in case i lose track?

In terms of staying in the same room without packing and unpacking, you can call MS and add the request. There is no guarantee, but likely they will help you since they don't want to clean rooms multiple times.

But regarding to changing the points to use, the easiest scenario is when the room is still available. Then, you can book with another membership, before cancelling the old reservation.
However, if you borrowed points, those points will be that user year, Regardless you transfer to other membership or not.

You can definitely transfer points and then have them applied without canceling.

The reservation can’t be moved though without canceling and picking it back up.

I see you have now borrowed and those are stuck. If you borrowed for the whole trip, then you have to lose.

Now, when you add on direct, DVC will put back borrowed points if you have new points that work.

While it doesn’t usually work with resale, you can always ask them to transfer, use, and ask for an exception to put back your borrowed points now that you have new ones.

It won’t hurt!

In my experience, while you cannot see the transfer points on the 'front page' of your dashboard. You *can* see them when you go to book a room. They show up as another contract in the pick list for points to use for your reservation.

Good Luck!

I have been driving myself insane trying to piece together enough nights for what I want and not having a backup because I don't have enough points yet to do both. This is going to send me to an early grave 🤣🤣 i just got word that my animal kingdom just closed a day early 🍾🍾 Im just going to book what is available now until I get those new points and then try to work on what we're really chasing because If I end up with nothing it will be a royal screw up 🤣🤣

The cast member at member sservices was so vague she was like i cannot tell you if you will be able to see them on your dashboard until you transfer, sometimes they show up and sometimes they don't. Its like why is it a mystery lol

Don’t worry. First year I made all sorts of rookie errors. I’m on year 2 now and have vastly improved my strategies!😆

Knowing some of the rules isn’t the same as playing by them. lol.
My first mistake was buying a stripped contract, my second mistake was buying a February use year and not an April, my latest mistake was borrowing these damn points and not asking about the implications of doing that first. I have a headache lol

There is one very unique case that has been reported and its same resort and UY.

But, other than that, the contract doesn’t show except when booking. Which, to see, is very easy. Just pretend to book something and when you get to the contracts it will show.

Then just cancel out.

So i can book online myself with transferred points, i don't have to call?
