Cancelling points used for cruise

If I cancel my Disney cruise and rebook paying cash, what happens to the points? I know they are put back into this UY, but can I make reservations or transfers? And has anyone done this?

The points used for any non-DVC reservation are classified as "Reservation Points".

If you cancel, those points will be returned to your account, but they can only be used to make another non-DVC reservation (and with another $95 charge). They cannot be banked and will expire at the end of the Use Year. They could be used at the DL resorts without the $95 charge, but all other non-DVC options will incur that fee.

Once you made the reservation, the points became what they call reservation points. You can no longer use them for DVC resort stays. They need to be used for trades only. Plus you are out the $95 fee and will have to pay it again when you book to use the points later for a trade.
