Cancelling part of your party at Ohana?

I am planning a trip for January 2014. We will for sure be a party of 4. However, I have 4 additional family members that may or may not go based on financial reasons that may be resolved by January.

'Ohana is my must-do and so I made the reservation for 8. What will happen if, later, I need to decrease that to 4? I plan to modify it just as soon as I get confirmation from my family. I realize that would be going from a big table for 8 people to a smaller one and that may cause problems for the restaurant. Has anyone here dealt with a similar issue that can give some insight? Thanks!

Last summer, I had an adr at Ohanas for a party of 4; however, it was only my DD & I that could make it. It was not a problem and I was not charged the no-show fee.

Thanks for sharing! I booked Ohana for 4, since my mom is joining us for part of our trip, and then found out she won't be joining us until the morning after Ohana. I'll try to call Disney Dining and see if they can modify it over the phone, but its good to know we won't be turned away (there will still be 3 of us, so I am assuming either way we'd be at a four-top).

The bigger 'challenge' is that she's bringing her boyfriend and they want to go to 'that French restaurant' (be our guest). I made this reservation for 4 also, so we'll see if I have any luck getting that one updated to 5 people - haha! (DD is 2 and can still use a highchair, so a 4-top would theoretically work, but I hate the idea of showing up with one extra or one less person unannounced)

travelgirl06: Glad this post could be of help!

I just found out last night that my extra family members are GOING! :cool1: They are just trying to decide if they want to do DDP or not. (I, of course, am trying to talk them out of this!)

Free dining would be nice but I doubt we will get it as we are going MLK day week not to mention booking LM rooms.

I'm having the same dilemma. I booked for 3 for October 2013 but now it looks like it will just be two of us. Do you guys think this will be a problem? I've been looking to see if there are any reservations available for 2 but so far nothing.

You will not be charged the no-show fee unless no one at all shows up.

I'm having the same issue. I just got a reservation for BOG for next week. But, only my brother and I were planning on going to MK that day. I made the reservation for 4, just incase my parents show up, but if they don't, I wont get charged, right??

Actually 'Ohana has tables for 3 (we've been seated at one everytime we've been there).

Definitely check on line to see if a table for 5 (or 6) comes up. When you go from 4 to 5 you need a larger sized table. A high chair often doesn't fit at a Disney restaurant table because frequently the tables are very close together and there isn't room. Where we were seated at BOG there wouldn't have been any place to put a high chair at a 4 top without blocking the space between two tables.

As much as possible Disney will seat your extra person, but you may have to wait longer. If the restaurant is at capacity they may seat only 4 of you because of fire and safety code rules (unlikely to happen). Or like one restaurant we were at that was running so far behind schedule they were turning away walk ups, extra people not on a reservation, and parties who showed up late.

Right. As long as at least one person shows up you will not be charged.
