My husband said he really doesn't have any desire to eat there. Do you think I'm missing out by not going there. We have gone to all you can eat meat. My husband said we go to alot of character meals he would go to b/c my son enjoys them. But this restaurant he does like the food listed and tells me why? I ask myself why to? and tell him alot of people say its a must restaurant to go to?
What you think?

I enjoy meals more when everyone is on board. If my wife didn't care for 'Ohana's menu, I would choose another. One of the great things about WDW is that there are so many menus and styles of restaurants to choose from.

That said, we like 'Ohana's for different reasons. My wife loves everything about it; I like the atmosphere and the family style service, but am not crazy about the food. I mostly like to go because it makes her happy.

If you could tell us a little about what your husband likes in restaurants, I'm sure that we could suggest an alternate that you both would enjoy.

Nah you aren't missing anything IMHO. There are similar restaurants off site that are MUCH better.

My hubby wasn't really into Ohana either when he saw the menu, but I wanted to try it. So we went. Turns out it was a favorite restaurant and hubby insists we go back :confused3

It was one of my favorite meals. I really liked the food and we had an awesome view of the Magic Kingdom while eating. The kids loved the extras like coconut races and dancing that the lady (forgot her name) does with them. We loved the kids being happy but we got some alone time at the table while they were off playing, it was really nice. However if neither of you really want to go I would not go just because people say it is a must do.

we just ate there this past saturday night and the food was very good u see alot of bad reviews on here about the food i have sat next to people at ohana complain about the food that meat is over cooked and i tell them that if u ask for med rare steak they will bring it out like that u dont have to eat food they way they cook it what we always do at the start i tell waiter we like med rare steak , shrimp that is not burnt or dried out and they always bring it out just the way we asked

Thanks everyone, I just talked to my husband and he said to pick restuarant at Epcot. He doesn't at of all the ADR's I made...he doesn't want OHANA. He said we can go to Narcoossee's, CG or any restaurants at EPCOT. I just cancelled my OHANA for Dec 7th at 5:30 and made Chefs de France (one of his favorite).

If he doesn't want to go there you totally made the right decision. I didn't care for it at all and don't care to ever go back. Yes, the meats were extremely dry but besides that I really just didn't like the sweetness of the food. Some people really like it and that's great - they won't have to fight me for an ADR!!!!

i think you're missing out. :O( we LOVE ohana! the kids get to do the limbo and shake musical instruments while being in a "parade". everyone gets leis, there's hawaiian singing and a daddy/daughter dance. and, we also enjoy the food. already booked for our next trip!

Thanks for sharing, I figure I'm letting my son has his character meals for breakfast and have something my husband likes for dinner. It was the first time when planning he said he really doesn't want to go...he feels its nothing special. I wanted my son to play the games and dance but my husband said my son can do his dance party at Hollywood and vine. Since so many people loves this restaurant and my family doesn't really want it...give the ADR to someone wanting it.

What my husband and I are doing for our January trip is that We both made a list of 6 places we really want to go (we will be on dlx plan if they don't change it too much and can get tables in wonderland if they do). Then we compared the lists. Anything we both wanted went on immediately. If it was something only one of us wanted the other had the option to veto it but could only do that once (this is so that we don't get stuck somewhere we won't eat). Due to this I will be okay going to Sci Fi even I only thing the food is ok and found the movies kind of dumb. My husband however will willingly let me do some breakfasts even though he is not much of a breakfast person (admitted more because he doesn't want to eat when he just woke up then because he doesn't like the food)

Thanks for sharing. When I asked my husband regarding Disney trip...his response is whatever makes you happy. I asked him for options or opinion regarding parks, places to eat or the resort to stay. His response is whatever my heart wants. He'll go to Disney as long as he doesn't have to think and just tell him want we are doing that day when he gets up. So I was telling him that all ADR's has been done but I'm rearranging a day b/c my son wants to go to Sea World. So when I told him all the places we are eating and when I mention OHANA, his response is can we go somewhere else b/c I don't want to eat there and I told him what they serve and he said I rather not. Then he said if I REALLY want to and we will go b/c its whatever I want. Then I thought he must really not want to go if he said something. Mind you I have rethink of our resort, park days and ADR's...he really doesn't care as long as my son and I are happy but if he made a comment I decided to switch and let someone else get the ADR that I cancelled.

Its one of my fave meals but the last time I ate there in 2008 the meats were very dry so DH wanted to try Kona on our 2009 trip. This yr we have a Ohana and a Kona ADR since we are staying at the Poly but I plan on immediately letting server know we dont want our meats over cooked...I enjoy the wings, salad, dumplings and noodles and when the meat isnt over cooked its very good..I love the ambiance, its quite busy and noisy but it does remind me of this place I ate in Waikiki so I love it! Add in the man or woman singing with the ukele (sp?) just lovely! Maybe its just not time for Ohana but dont write it off your list yet, maybe you'll go on another trip and hey just another reason to go back to WDW~!

I think you made the right decision. I think he's missing out, but I still think you made the right decision.

I'm in a similar position and I'm not sure how I'm going to handle it. My dh doesn't want to go to signature restaurants because he doesn't want to be told what he can and can't wear. He's being stupid, really. It's not like he would dress inappropriately, but he says he's on vacation and paying them for the service and doesn't want to be told he has to change his "Grumpy" T-shirt for a nicer one. LOL. I haven't quite decided, but I'm thinking I might overrule him on this one but I do so at my own risk. DD has specifically requested Yachtsman Steakhouse, and so - since, at the end of the day, the trip is mostly for the kids - I'm going to let her win this one this one time.

I have not done the character meals at Ohanas but we have eaten there for dinner and the food was excellent and so was the service. It is a definite must on our list for next time.
