Cancelling DDP?

Can the DDP be cancelled once it is added to a reservation? We added the DDp to our reservation and paid with a Disney Gift Card. I am recalculating and thinking that we will save money paying OOP. Can we cancel the DDP and have the money refunded to the gift card? Can we cancel at check-in or does it have to be done sooner? TIA!

Since you're subject to the terms of WDW package reservations, the answer is it depends on when your trip starts. If your trip start is more than 45 days away then you can cancel with no penalty and the balance will be refunded to your Gift Card. If you cancel within 45 days from the start of your trip then the balance will be refunded minus I think a $50 change fee to your Gift Card. I think it's maybe within 3 days of your arrival date when it's too late to change it.

This of course is assuming you booked through CRO (or a travel agent who booked for you). If you booked a DVC reservation then that is subject to different terms and somebody else will have to tell you those terms as I have no idea what they are.
