Cancelling Connections

Hi all!

After reading all about Connections I did join to get the vouchers, knowing full well that they may double charge me and that I may have a problem with cancelling...

I called them this morning to cancel - of course they asked me why, etc...but I just said - It's not going to save me enough money for the membership fee, please cancel it - he started to give me a sales pitch, and I just stated - thank you, can I please have a confirmation number of the cancellation - it shocked him because I'm sure they are trained to keep you on no matter what and instead of "I told you no!" I was calm and acted like he already processed my request. I got his name and operator number and confirmed - you DID cancel this, correct - and was told - yes, and since it was not billed, you're all set - He was very polite and even thanked me for trying connections!

Oh...and I didn't get double charged - I received my vouchers within 3 days of ordering them and the order was fine!

I was very impressed it went through without a problem, and just had to share! :smooth:

I think that is the way it should be and usually is. unfortunately we mostly hear the horror stories rather than the good stuff. I kept my connections membership, but I cancelled with one of the sister companies with no problems.
 
I also joined, ordered and cancelled within the same week with no problem at all. I was very impressed and I am so thankful for these boards or I wouldn't have even known about their program!:D
 
just to be safe, I sign up with a webcertificate (the number is the same as a MasterCard) with very low $$ on it...that way they CAN'T double charge because the money is not there.
 

What a GREAT idea! I will have to remember about webcertificates if I ever order something like this again!!

I must be in the minority...I decided to keep the membership. I felt a little like I would be cheating or something by cancelling the first month, even though I know lots of people have done just that. I, too, had no trouble ordering from them(no double billing), and was pleasantly surprised to see they credited my account $10 for the 5 Red Lobster certificates I ordered. Since my membership does not expire until April, I plan on ordering more of the restaurant certificates as Christmas/end-of-the-year gifts for my children's teachers. I will also order more WDW meal vouchers for an up-coming trip, and another ticket or two for relatives who will accompany us on a future trip. Besides getting a plus feature on the 4-day hoppers for about the same price as DC 4-day with no plus, I liked being able to walk through the turnstile on our first day in the parks without waiting in line to purchase a ticket. I am happy to hear that Connections may finally be working out some of their previous problems with customer service. That is key to keeping customers!
 
You are not alone Mic. I kept mine too. I joined last Decemebr and kept my membership. It has saved me so much money and more than paid for itself. I have bought passes for 3 family memebrs, a total of 30 Q&C vouchers for 3 different trips. I am going to be buying more for my next 2 trips. Worth it for me!
 
I have a feeling I will be keeping mine. I bought 4 park hoppers for a friend and one DL ticket for myself. Plus I could spend my salary at Barnes and Noble so the $5 credits will come in useful.
 
We're keeping ours as well. We saved alot so it's only fair. How long does it take for them to credit back on your credit card for the gift certificates??? Does anyone know?

I was told 3 billing cycles when I placed the order, and that is exactly how long it took. I placed the order halfway through May's billing cycle, and the credit appeared on August's statement. I know $10 is not a lot of money, but I looked at it like I was getting 1 free $10 gift certificate!
