Just curious
How many of you are cancelling because of Wilma? Anyone cancelling that are arriving Friday?

We are driving from St. Louis, leaving in 2 and a half hours and are scheduled to check in at POFQ on Friday.

We aren't cancelling, there's still no certainty of Wilma's path, so we are taking our chances. :goodvibes

Our flight arrives at 7:45AM on Friday. My DH will be flying in Sat morning and arriving at the same time.We are not cancelling. We may have to put it off a couple of days if our flights are cancelled but that will be the only way we cancel :cool1:

We are cancelling. We were supposed to arrive on Friday. We were only staying for the weekend and don't want to take the chance of getting stuck there. Our local news has said to expect gas shortages in most of Florida.

We were supposed to arrive Friday morning, but have delayed our trip until Wednesday, Oct. 26. I was just getting too worked up and wouldn't have enjoyed myself for the first few days. We are hoping that Wilma doesn't do much damage and we'll be able to have a magical trip, just a few days later!

We were in WDW last year during a hurricane...I honestly have to tell you it was one of our best trips ever. We were safe, did not loose power in the hotel, WDW comped us a park day because the parks were closed for a day. The day before and the day after, not only was the weather beautiful...the crowds were low. We even added 2 days while we were there because we were having so much fun. When the parks opened the day after the storm, you would never know it...Hurricanes/tropical storms/tropical depressions are usually fast moving storms...the day before and the day after are usually great weather.

I don't think it will be that bad by the time it gets to Orlando. It is coming from the west not from the east. By the time it reaches Orlando and if it reaches Orlando...it will not be a big deal.

The local weather news station there www.wesh.com click on weather for a full report on Orlando weather.

I would never cancel a trip to WDW...as long as I can get there I know we will have a great time..no matter what the weather.

We arrive Friday around 4, as long as we can get there we're going. I'll have a rental car if I need to get out, but I think we'll be fine.

Has WDW issued any travel advisories statements?

I didn't see anything on their website. If they issue an advisory they typically post on the front page of their site.

I'm not going for another 38 days so obviously this question doesn't apply to me. I just wanted to tell all the DISers that ARE going that I will be thinking about you and wishing you a safe and happy vacation. Take care. :wizard:

If, and let's hope not, but IF we do end up cancelling, any idea about what will happen - we have already paid for the room, Hoop Dee Doo and Halloween Party? I might post-pone to later in the week, but not sure about work. Would they exchange our MNSSHP to another party night? Let's just all hope for the best. We are driving down for a weekend trip Friday night. Thanks -

Thank you mommaU4!

Interesting comment from a CM today: South and West coast Floridians are checking *in* to the Disney hotels for the weekend.

Thank you, that's so nice of you! :grouphug:

I am seriously considering canceling, but the logistics of changing dates causes alot of problems at work. And changing dates will cost me hundreds of dollars. I am still planning on start driving down tomorrow and arriving midday Friday. I am far more worried about gas shortages and traffic jams. :( Just hoping the hurricane weakens alot before landfall and gets out of here quickly!!

We are supposed to fly in Saturday around 6 p.m. but have made ressies for Friday and are also thinking about making them for Monday. I have to make a final decision on Friday by 1 p.m. pacific time tomorrow so we shall see.

We still want to go cuz we were going for 2 weeks but I am nervous about when the best time to actually "get" there would be. Before or right after?

Plane leaves tomorrow morning at 10:05 AM from JFK and we will definitely be on it. My father and sister want my mother and I cancel but no way. My father called Disney and they said that Old Key West is one of the strongest built and they are all prepared for anything that comes. But hurricanes will go by quickley. I don't plan on loosing any vacation club points and money on this trip. We will be there with our Mickey pounchos. :cool1: :Pinkbounc :cheer2:

We are arriving on the 26th too! Best Wishes and Pixie Dust to you! Here's hoping for beautiful warm, sunny weather!

Just would suggest that everyone not be in a rush to cancel their trips--obvious now that they are terribly unsure as to the path and timing of this storm. Just yesterday they had all of S. Florida being virtually destroyed. Now--some "hints" that it COULD miss Fla. altogether, or at worst just brush the southern portion.
Of course--THAT could change again tomorrow.
THis has got to be very frustrating for anyone anticipating a long-planned trip to WDW.
