Cancelling and Rebooking with Holding Points?

I currently have a reservation at OKW for May 31 until June 7 and have 36 points in holding. Since I am within 60 days of checking in I was wondering if it would be possible to cancel the 1st night and rebook with the holding points? That way I could bank the 36 points used for the original reservation that I made after the 7 month window.

I checked and as of a few minutes ago there was availability for May 31.

Others have mentioned that MS will reallocate your points if you ask, without canceling and rebooking.

They won't, or at least shouldn't, reallocate proofing points on an existing reservation. Just like they won't reallocate points for a home resort swap at 7 months. You can do it if the room is available for booking, but they won't reallocate. Some have reported success with some agents, but it shouldn't be expected.

I've heard this too but not sure about with holding points. It probably depends on who you talk to. I'll be sure to report back after I call.

If the room is still available when you call in the morning it's very likely they will just reallocate. But that will probably depend on the CM too.

Called MS this morning and there was absolutely no problem with using the holding points. Really not sure what the CM did, whether she cancelled and rebooked or reallocated because she did say that there was so much availability. It just took a while because the system was balky.

Bottom line is mission accomplished and I have 36 more bankable points in my account. Yay!

Great news! I had similar good fortune a couple of weeks ago. Glad you will be able to enjoy those points next use year!
