How many times have you cancelled and rebooked the same car rental reservation?
I have found that my National rental rate for May has gone down 3 times since I booked it. Are they going to start charging me for all the cancellations and rebookings?? I am a member of the Emerald Club, so they do have my credit card number on file.

Thanks!

I always cancel and rebook if the price goes down. I too am an EC member. I've never been charged extra for doing this.

Too many times to count! I do it a lot by the time my trip rolls around. I've had no problems at all.

Each time you cancel you should get an email confirming that you canceled it. That always gives me peace of mind.

If you have two reservations for different days. Would there be a problem if you show up for the later date and don't cancel the earlier one?

Yes, if they have your CC, they will charge you a no show fee. At National it's $50.

If they have your CC on file, cancel any unwanted reservations.

From National's FAQ section:

No Show

When a customer books a Guaranteed Reservation and does not rent their car, a No-Show fee may apply.

If the guaranteed reservation is canceled at least 24 hours prior to the anticipated arrival time there will be no fee charged.

If the guaranteed reservation is canceled less than 24 hours in advance, or you fail to pick up the car, a no show fee of $50.00 (includes applicable taxes, surcharges, and lessor fees) is charged to the credit card on the reservation.

Thanks. We're going to Las Vegas and really don't need a car til two days later because of the shuttle availability to hotel and strip. :)

Last year on one of my trips I booked, cancelled and re-booked 6 times.
I've done several bookings and cancellings over the years and never had a problem. Just remember to keep track of the bookings so that you don't inadvertently keep a booking you meant to cancel.

I've cancelled and rebooked mine 6 times so far for my trip the beginning of May. And I'll do it again if the price drops.

Does Alamo have the policy about charging for no shows? I've never heard of that. I suppose they could only charge QS members, because otherwise they wouldn't have a credit card number.
