Cancelling an ADR after you check in

I know there are penalties for cancelling an ADR for certain restaurants at Disney, if they are after a certain time window. However, what if you have ADRs at other places (not where there is a penalty), and then you want to change to a different restaurant once you are checked in? Could you do this from your resort (on property)? Or even change a time? That is of course, if the time or place you want to change to is available and not all booked up. I booked our last trip's ADRs at the 180-day mark, so it was not an issue. But it was only a 5-night trip and we knew exactly where we wanted to go. Next time will be a 10-night trip with a few days not going to any parks. So it would be nice to be able to change the ADR if necessary. Or even for the simple fact that in case we have an ADR in a park but then decide we don't want to go back to a park and eat at one of the restaurants at either BW, BC or YC (we will be staying at BWV).

So what do you all do who stay for longer? We like at least one TS meal every day, for dinner, possibly a character breakfast or 2 as well. We eat dinner anywhere from 5-6:30PM. And we travel in July.

I've had no problem changing ADRs or even cancelling a few when we couldn't go. (Health reasons for the latter, for me.) Just make sure you change or cancel as soon as you decide... and you should be able to do it at your hotel. We have done both through the concierge and through the dining number from our room phone.

We've added and subtracted before. The only one's you would lose on are the one's thatrequire a credit card deposit. Ex: Cinderella's Royal Table.

You can cancel/change (or, well, try to change) dining reservations using your room phone, or go to Guest Services in any park, or Lobby Concierge in your or any other Disney resort, or at the podium of the restaurant, or at the podium of ANY Disney restaurant, or - at least at DHS - at the little booth on the corner of Sunset Boulevard where you can also make dining reservations...

we made all our ADRs at the 180 moment - but yesterday i added a lunch at Mama Melrose - still "on the fence" about that one (curious, never been, want to try the appy and cheesecake) - but if i change my mind, i'll be cancelling that lunch ADR - just not 100% sure yet....

It's easy to change once you are there. You can call Disney Reservations like you are at home, call from the dining button on your phone in your room, at the front concierge or guest services of your hotel, from the dining button on any pay phone within Disney and also from any dining podium at the restaurants (as long as they are not busy).

On the Saturday of Labor Day weekend, while my husband rode Expedition Everest, I pulled out my cell phone, called Disney Dining, pressed the option for calling from the Orlando area for a seating less than seven days in advance, and made a reservation for the next day at Sci Fi Diner for two people at 11:05.

We hadn't decided on where to eat until that morning. The reservation was for less than 24 hours away. That's all you need to do to cancel or make reservations once there.
