Cancelling after online check-in

If you check-in online well in advance are you still able to cancel if you are within the timeframe to do so?

We really need early check-in for an upcoming visit, and a phone CM recommended I go ahead and check in online and provide my time of arrival so they will be more likely to have a room ready for me. I don't anticipate my plans changing, but I like to have the cancellation option available just in case. I'm wondering if checking into the room could possibly negate my ability to cancel my reservation.

No, you'll still be able to cancel without penalty per whatever reservation type you have (30 days for packages, 5 days for room only reservations). Online check-in doesn't impact those terms.

FYI, you may know this but there's a check-box in the online-check in section I think under room requests that says something like "check here if you want having your room early a priority over your requests" - I'd check that if applicable in your situation.

Thanks, GADisneyDad14! I would quote you but every time I try to do that I mess it up somehow. I need to go read the "how to post" primer; I'm sure there is one back in the annals of these boards.

That is good to know about the early room request priority box. That is exactly what I'll do. That makes me a little more hopeful that I'll get the early check-in.

You really don't "check-in" when you do online check-in. It just registers your information. You don't actually get checked in until arrival day.
