I was scheduled to start my WDW vacation in a little over a week, but have to cancel the trip so I can stay here and deal with my mom's medical issues. I don't know when DD and I will be able to get down to Disney. Hopefully sometime in the winter or spring, but I can't pick new dates at the present.
My tickets are date based, and my understanding from these boards is that while I can't get them refunded, I can apply the value of those tickets to new tickets. How does this work? Do I just not show up to use them, and as long as they're unused, I can call Disney to apply their purchase price to new tickets? Or do I need to be proactive and call to arrange something before being a no-show?
This is my first WDW trip since the date-based tickets were implemented. I realize there's a good chance ticket prices will go up or I'll have more expensive dates, and I'm fine with paying the difference, but I don't want to lose the money I've already paid.
