Hey All,

I cancelled my upcoming Disney world reservation(just wasn't in the cards this year). I paid my initial deposit of $200, using one credit card a year ago, and then about 50% of the cost(~$1500) using a separate card 2 months ago.

My issue is that the original credit card for the $200 I had to cancel a few months ago because my bank detected fraud on it, which is why i used a separate card my next big payment.
When i requested the cancellation the website said it would refund the cost to the original card(now cancelled). Also I never recieved an email confirmation of the cancellation or refund, not a single receipt. I'm becoming anxious that my money(~1700-1900), is lost. I've tried calling and disney has such a back log of people calling that the wait times are over 2 hours.. well i work. I can't sit on the phone for 2 hours.

Any suggestions or ideas? Do you think my money is lost??

Generally, if issuing a refund to the original payment method fails, Disney will issue a check. I've also had refunds issued to closed accounts and the CC co either transfers to the new account(if new card numbers were issued for fraud, etc., but you still have an active account) or they mail a check for accounts that are either closed or currently have no balance. I can take 4-6 weeks

I don't think your money is lost. It takes some time for the refund to show up on your credit card. How many days ago did you cancel?
For the canceled credit card, I believe the procedure is the credit card company will send you a check when they process the refund.

Banks have the ability to accept charges, and credits, applied to cancelled credit cards. Call your bank. It will either send you a check or apply the credit to your replacement card.

As for a receipt or email about the cancellation - I just cancelled a Thanksgiving booking at Caribbean Beach. No receipt or email, but I checked my card and the deposit was refunded. And it disappeared from my MDE. I think Disney thinks that is enough.

How long ago did you cancel and did you use a debit or credit card? I used debit cards and both payments posted to my accounts within 48 hours. Credit cards are notorious for taking longer, as they make money on your interest.

When your card was cancelled, did the bank issue you a new one or did the close the account? If the account is still open, it should just post to that account.

If it's a credit card it can take one to two billing periods, depending on your credit card. That timeframe depends on your credit card institution, not Disney. The credit may just apply to your replacement card.

You can call the CC company of the closed card and get the refund from them. I recently had that happen with a closed AMEX card. I called them and using my name and the last 4 of my social, he was able to find the closed card and see the $ that was pending out there. They then sent me a check for the money.
