Well i'll try to cut a long story short, my Dad had several major heart attacks in december and we were told he wouldn't last the night but "The Miracle Man" as the hospital call him is still with us today and has been waiting all year for a triple heart bypass, he is also having some of his heart removed because there is a lot of damaged heart because of the severity of the heart attacks, so don't think it's quite as straight forward as a bypass? :confused3 (Not saying a bypass is straight forward)
We were due to fly to spain on 27th august and last week Dad's date came through, he goes in 28th and they are operating 29th, would you believe it!!
So i've cancelled so i can go up and be there with my Mum more than anything because he probably won't realise who's there for a while!
We are obviously all worried because he's not a well man, he's only 60 though and my grandad (Dad's dad) died after his bypass, but he was alot older.
I know i've done the right thing cancelling i wouldn't enjoy it so i'm going to book for the half term week in october because i think after all this we will need a week away.
Sorry to go on but wanted to talk to someone and don't want to worry Mum with anymore.

:grouphug: i think youve made the right choice.....you wouldnt enjoy the holiday anyway,at least if you go in october you will be able to relax more.

i hope the operation goes well for your dad x x

My friend was in the same situation with her wedding and honey moon. Her dad had a heart attack the beginning of the year and was told he needed a triple by pass the appointment came through for just before her wedding date so they bought it forward a few weeks. When he went down to theatre they found he needed a quadruple by pass. He came through surgery with flying colours and now goes to the hospital gym 3 times a week he is looking very well so keep thinking positive, the procedure has come on a lot in later years you would surprised by how many people have actually had it done. Good Luck :thumbsup2

Hope the operation goes well and your dad makes a speedy recovery :wizard:

Sorry to hear that. I know everyone says it, but what they can do now is amazing and I am sure he will be in the very best of hands. These surgeons deserve medals as far as I am concerned, they are truely wonderful people.

All the very best
