My dad is really sick in his last stages of aggressive prostate cancer. It was just too iffy to leave town right now as hospice was called in. I was hoping when I made the ressie to bring my parents with me on this trip to SSR for their 50th anniversary which I am now sure my dad is trying to hold on for.
2 months ago he was able to go to beach with my sister and have a really good time but when he came home, he just fell apart and went downhill.

My trip home was to start on the 9th so I was within my 30 days. I will hear soon about the holding account or just back into account. Either way, I am just happy I won't lose my points.

Last night, I received a form type email from DVC talking about me "coming home" soon. It did, however, have a guide's name signed at the bottom of the form. It just happened to be from Marshall Sutton who was my guide back in Feb. but we bought resale. Was this just a coincidence? I really liked him and would have bought from BCV was just better for us. Anyone know if it was probably by chance or not?

I'm not sure the answer to your question. But I just wanted to say sorry about your dad.

I also am not sure of the answer to you question, but just wanted to say that I am also sorry to hear about your dad. Hospice, as you have probably figured out, is a wonderful organization. I am glad that they are helping you and your family at this difficult time. Barb :grouphug:

Sorry you're missing your first trip home. Here's sending you some positive vibes: pixiedust:

The email is probably signed by your guide. All of our DVC mail like that comes from our guide. Well, except for that one email last year that was from Tink. :confused3

the guide you originally got is the one you always have unless you want to change them.
or if he leaves DVC.

so sorry about your father.

I know he wants to stay for the anniversary - but I hope for his sake he goes soon without too much pain.

so sorry! :rose:

I have no answer to your question, I just wanted to tell you I am sorry for what your family is going through. I wish you and your father the best.

Prayers for your Father and your family in this difficult time. Yes, the guide you were assigned is still your guide, and you should feel free to call them with any questions. In fact, they might be able to work some magic for that "one time special" banking priviledge. It's worth a try.

So sorry about your Dad. You and your family are in my prayers.

:grouphug: Prostate cancer is a tough one. My FIL passed away in 2001. Thinking of you.

My prayers are with you as well.

As noted above, once you have a guide they stick with you unless they leave or you request a change. Many of us old timers have been around long enough to have a few guides and many times didn't even know there was a change until we read on DIS or some other site that our guide had left.

Thank you all for these thoughts and prayers. We need them all as this is a tough time. A day I was hoping would just not ever come...
I am very sorry about your FIL, Debbie. You know the story quite well.

And to all the men out there...get your PSA taken. Any increase is a concern. Don't let anyone tell you 0-4 is OK. It is NOT! Early detection is VERY important.

I received another email (form type) with DVC news tonight and it even says Marshall Sutton is my guide. Well, that's great to me because I really like him (as I said). And he'll be OK with us even though we bought resale?

I'm sure he'll be just fine with you - there are lots of members who purchased resale. Many who bought directly through Disney the first time and later also bought resale. Many who bought resale initiallyy and then did add ons through Disney. Never heard of anyone having a guide upset with them.

FWIW, we have had no contact with our guide since our purchases in 1999. They really are just sales people. That said, I'm sure our guide would be happy to hear from us if we ever decide to add on again. But in the meantime, MS and Member Accounting have been all we've ever needed.

Best wishes -
