All I can say is WOW. Entitlment run rampant. I cannot fathom calling someone and threatening to cancel if I don't get x, or y that someone else got, when I am NOT entitled to that deal. That is like my six year old throwing afit because soemone else got to be line leader or got a sticker and she didn't. I just could not act that way over afew dollars someone else got as an incentive to become a customer.
I think you are really reaching there. I mean, I hate this whole "entitlement" word that dis'ers throw around, I hate that every single time someone has an issue with anything people want to label them with that word...hate it hate it hate it.
Businesses can do what they want. There is *no reason*, other than "because I wanna" for them to not offer a nice bonus to all of their customers. It's ridiculous for ANY company to play these games now, since communication is instant. If they want to say "join within x and y dates", that's one thing. But for one group of people to get one offer and another to get another is just silly, especially since there are no parameters. If they want to say "those with a score of 700 get x offer and those with 750 get y", then that is a simple parameter.
Like one kid gets a sticker b/c they were there for 5 days of class, and another kid was out sick and doesn't get the sticker b/c they weren't, that's a parameter that has been set (of course, I think that the kids that have parents that keep kids HOME when sick deserve stickers and kudos and fanfair, but that's not really how teachers seem to think, same with bosses).
But when the company's response is "because I said so", then that deserves to be challenged. Just like when I've drawn some idiotic line in the sand with DS, and he questions it, I will bite down my auto-response of "because I said so" and think about it, and usually we will both come to a more logical, SANE, explainable, non-stupid solution to it.
And since Chase has indeed been offering extra bonuses to existing customers, obviously they do the same as I do. The various reps have the ability to think about it and make a decision on whether they need to stand firm or offer it up.
This is the exact same thing we have to do every 6 months for reasonable comcast services. We could be paying twice or more than that for our service. But we don't, because every 6 months when the rate is about to go up, hubby calls, reminds them that we have lots of choices, and would they like to continue to get our $60 or lose it entirely by raising it to 120 or even higher. They have chosen now, for nearly 10 years, to keep us.
It's a game that companies have created. It's foolish to be philosophical when it comes to stuff like that...and trust me, I'm VERY philosophical and have many things I just won't do because of my philosophy...but this sort of game that companies play isn't on that list.
