What responsibility does the airline have if they cancel your flight? I have been tracking my flights the last few weeks (yes, I am obsessive) and they have cancelled my flight to Atlanta 2 times; today being one of the times. There is not another flight for about 7 hours. Does the airline have to book you on a flight with another airline if they cancel?

Deleted --- I see you already have a thread going, and I interpreted your question differently, so my comments would not be helpful to you.

If the flight is cancelled after you get to the airport, each airline has its own rules about what kind of rebooking you can expect. You will at least get the choice of the next available flight of theirs or a refund. Although some airlines may rebook you on a different airline, they don't do that if the problem was weather.

If the flight was cancelled in advance they don't have to rebook you with another airline but they do have to give you your choice of the next available flight, the previous available flight, or a refund. BY available I mean with unsold seats in the same section of the plane, but ignoring fare rules.
