Cancelled CRT

After being happy to get the CRT reservation yesterday, and then realizing they add tax and gratuity to an already outrageous price, my DD decided we have done the CRT before, and we could skip this year. So, I told instead we could spend one night at Nick Hotel - for about the same price - before the cruise.

Kind of crazy that one lunch could cost almost the same as a night in a hotel.

I agree, the sad thing is, it's not even that good!! I think the whole CRT change is one of the biggest rip-offs and I'm quite disappointed that WDW is cashing in on this.

But, as long as they have guests filling up the place they'll just keep going with it. It is ridiculous that a mediocre meal could cost so much!! I'm guessing they are catering to those that have the DDP.

I'm with ya!!! Friends who did their first WDW trip are still REALLY steaming over the waste of money and time on dinner at CRT. They felt completely ripped off and it really put adamper on their trip feeling so taken advantage of. I doubt they will ever go back to WDW. I hope the bean counters realize they are creating such anamosity to WDW with their proce gouging.

Funny thing is they definately are not selling out the way they used to. I had my choice of breakfast or lunch for any of the 4 days we will be at the parks this year in August. That has definately NEVER happened before.

The deciding factor was that for $150 I could go to almost any of the othhr restaurants in the resorts or parks and have a fabulous meal. (Or could add the premium wine packaage on the cruise!)

Nah - can't do it. And seems I am not alone.

Same here. Cancelled CRT in favor of 1900 Park Fare. We're on the dining plan and didn't want to use 2 TS for mediocre food so, we switched and we'll still get to see Cindy.

We are cancelling out breakfast reservation after coming to an agreement that using 2 table services of our dining plan for bacon and eggs is not a good investment. much rather eat at narcoossees or even split a spaghetti noodle at Tonys Town Square

What has happened to CRT and when did these changes all occur? Was in February 06 or did Disney do this sooner? I was there in May 05 and ate 1 lunch and 1 dinner on my last trip and don't remember all of this added on stuff. I got this from Allearsnet.com and I'm posting this below. Are these photos that they are talking about included in the price of your dinner? The price that they are charging is ridiculous. It looks like my family will be passing on this as well.

As of February 1, 2006, Cinderella's Royal Table Dinner
is a fixed-price, set meal, hosted by the Fairy Godmother,
who will lead the observance of special occasions like birthdays and anniversaries.

When you arrive at Cinderella Castle for your reservation,
a photographer will be on hand to take pictures of your group in the lobby,
before you are seated in the dining room.
A package with four 4x6 prints and one 6x8 print of your photo,
as well as one 6x8 print of Cinderella Castle,
in a Cinderella photo holder (valued at $29.95 plus tax)
will be delivered to you during your meal,
which will be from a fixed-price, set menu.
(One photo package per party of 1-4;
two photo packages for parties of 5-8, etc.)


In addition, you will receive a special,
unframed, unmatted lithograph (worth $50),
given exclusively to diners at Cinderella's Royal Table Dinner

We did the CRT dinner and Cinderellas was there in the lobby.. thank goodness... I thought she might not be there and it was worth it to see DC4 so happy. The food was below average and the pretzel bread was cold so basically I paid a huge price just to see Cinderellas and the Castle. Once yes for the experience but never never again. Too bad they can't just let you sit in line through out the castle to visit the princesses and not have to pay for yucky food. It would be a nice place to sit in line.

We'll be doing the CRT lunch in May. I, at first, thought it was outrageous. But then I realized they added tax and tip. Then we got the DDE discount. After figuring out just the cost of the food, we realized it was cheaper than what we spend at Le Cellier or Fulton's. Actually, most of the dinner ADR's we have. So not biggie. If we don't like it, we won't do it next year. But I just bought a crapload of Princess stuff for my scrapbook and I better see some princesses!

Sure would! Disney knows that being in the Castle is a unique thing, and will never give it away for free as long as they can continue to have people pay such outrageous prices. And there are other places to have photo ops with the princesses.

As for us, we're instead going to Narcoossee's.

I decided against going there on our upcoming trip. I remember going as a teen and thinking it was really neat. This will be the first trip for our 3 kids, 2 girls ages 9 and 7 and one boy who will be 4. While the idea of eating in the castle is certainly special I don't want to use 2TS for it. And my girls are (much to my dismay) out of the princess thing completely and my son, well he would much rather dine with the Mouse. So I think we'll go to Chef Mickey's instead.

It is too bad they have priced it so high and from what I read the food quality is not worthwhile.

Is it still hard to get ressies for this? I would think with the price increse there are most likley lots of empty tables. We wanted to have dinner here after trying breakfast on our last two trips, but if I'm going to use 2 TS credits, it's going to be one of the better restraunts.

I think that was the whole point of raising the prices. CRT breakfast was in such demand that Disney first tried to increase the supply by adding the Princess Lunch. The demand was still very high so they increased the prices to possibly decrease the demand, which has worked. As long as they didn't decrease the demand too much and the restuarant is still full each meal, then the changes will be a success, even if it means some people won't go anymore. I mean, that was the goal in the first place I think, to decrease the demand and still make more money.

Yes, I believe it's either 13% or 15%, I can't remember right now. I usually leave 20% if the service is good.
