Cancelled booking points

I should probably know this but......

I am AUG UY.

I had a reservation in September which I cancelled. I used Aug 2023 points, nothing banked or borrowed.

When it comes to 1st August, can I bank those points as I am more than 31 days out?

Yes, you can bank. It has nothing to do with the reservations date you made or cancel, but where the points buckets the points came from. As you already surmised, you have 4 months before Aug. 2024 to bank any Aug. 2023 UY points, which give you a fairly long time to decide since your Aug. 2023 UY hasn't even started yet.

Correct, if you borrowed Aug. 2024 UY points to make a booking for Sept. 2023 reservations, and had to cancel, those Aug. 2024 UY points originally can no longer be banked, and will expire on July 31, 2024, even before they supposed to expire on July 31th, 2025 originally, which I think is retarded, but those are the DVC rules unfortunately.

If they truly are August 2023 points then you didn't borrow anything for a stay in September 2023. They simply came out of that use year and you would be able to bank those points still if you cancel before the holding period. However, if you didn't have any points coming to you on 8/1/2023 and borrowed from the 2024 UY, those points will now expire 7/31/24.
