Cancellation ?

I am thinking I need to cancel my trip scheduled for November 4-14 due to my financial situation..i booked with the wanna get away fare on SW and I understand I will get credits for a future trip..and I have one year to use those credits..i am confused on one thing though..do i actually have to FLY by that one year date or just BOOK a flight by then? My friend and I are planning to go to FL but not sure exactly when yet..I'm hoping it'll be in Feb but we are not sure..thanks!

You have one year to travel from when the tickets were originally purchased. Travel must be completed before the credits expire.

yes i had this problem a few years back. We booked our flights in Sept for Feb. then we had to cancel and rebook, but the expiry date was Sept, not feb. So, if you booked your Nov flights say, June. then you will have to use them until june. If you wait until the expiry date, you can extend that less %$50 per conf # and Sw will extend for 6 months, but you must call them for the extension

Thanks for the help..Cancelling was easier than I thought it would be, I did it last night and I found out I have until June 25th to fly with my unused credits..I only got $89.70 in credits but we booked with a really good fare of $35 per way...Now I just need to decide when to rebook and hopefully that $89.70 will be at least half of my trip..thanks for the help!
