I made an online ressie for November through WDW last week and paid my deposit. I called AAA and got a better rate. (yes, I know I should have done that prior!) If I cancel now, will I get my $200 deposit back? Not sure if I understand the cancellation policy correctly or not.

Thanks!!!

Yes, as long as you're more than 45 days out from your check-in date, everything is refundable on a package. :)

If it is a room only reservation, I believe that Disney can apply the AAA discount themselves.

:sad2: The AAA agent just called me back. When she went to make the ressie, the price went up because of the king room. So, WDW was cheaper. I'm just going to keep what I have for now.

Although...I have another question for you veterans out there....I paid for travel insurance. DH and I thought it was a good thing. Am I wasting my money? It was $133--not bad, but still.

Yes, that is correct for a room only, which requires a one night deposit and has a much shorter cancellation window (6 days from check-in).

I believe nlowrimore booked a package, because of the $200 deposit.

If you and your DH feel the insurance was a good thing, that's all that matters. Hopefully, you won't need to make a claim and it will have been "wasted" money, but if it gives you peace of mind to have the insurance 'just in case', it's worth it! :thumbsup2

Sorry the additional discount didn't work out, but if a general code is released in the coming months, you should call Disney and see if they can apply it to your November reservation. It never hurts to ask! ;)

Insurance can be determinded if needed like extended warranties are. They are there if you need them. Different issues I look at with taking out insurance for a trip. Time frame out till taking the trip (days, weeks, months), weather during that time of year (hurricane season, what part of the country you live in), no one can say, but any family medical issues ongoing at the time I am putting the trip together, flying vs driving, ect... I planned our Disney trip on December 11, 07 for Jan. 27- Feb. 3 and did not take out the insurance due to the closeness of the trip. To me it becomes a personnel preference thing.

Call WDW & ask them to apply the AAA rate to your King Room. You just need your card at check in if they ask for it.

I never get trip insurance.
