Scenerio: I have a trip planned with my daughter- hotel and two tickets- final payment due in two days. She may not be able to join me. If I pay for the package in full and she cannot come, can I still use the reservation without her joining me? Can we save her ticket (magic band) for future use?

Also, if your daughter can't make this trip, you can use all of the FP+ reservations for yourself this trip, so you could have 6 advance FP+ reservations per day. Just take her MB with you to the park (don't scan it at the gate) and use each MB separately to enter the FP+ entrances.

(And, her new and unused ticket can be reassigned and used by anyone in the future.)

I believe you can also switch/reassign the ticket to someone else in your mde account if need be so it does t actually have to be used by her in the future either.

It turns out she is definitely not coming. I have gotten my DME tags and booklet which says that the tickets will be at the resort. Magic Bands have shipped but not arrived. Robo...do I just ask the clerk for her ticket or do I have him put it on "her" band and take that home as the extra ticket?

I thought FP wouldn't work if the band with the FP on it wasn't used to get into the park?

Nope. Tickets or MagicBands not scanned in at the park gates will still access FP+.

1. That is misleading information.
If you check-in on line (and you SHOULD check-in on line) you will never go to the resort desk, and you won't be getting any "tickets."

2a. You won't need to go to the front desk at all. "Her" ticket will be in her MDE account (I'm assuming that it is actually YOUR MDE account)
and, since it will never be used at the gate, the ticket will remain new and unused for the duration of this trip and beyond.

3. You don't need to do anything. All guests' tickets will already be in the MDE account(s) and will be ready for use on the date and time
that you specify as your arrival when you check-in on line.

2b. If you WANT a stand-alone actual TICKET (the one your daughter won't be using) that you can keep for future use at WDW,
you CAN go to any ticket booth or Guest Relations with her MB and ask that they issue you a ticket.
It will be a plastic credit card-type with a built-in RFID chip. That ticket will ALSO still be active (but new and unused) in the MDE account.

Robo is correct ( of course)! Although the booklet said they'd be at the resort desk, they were in fact in my MDE. I imagine that when the bands come I will link only one ticket and leave the second one for next time.

I've one more question: I have taken two trips prior that used Magic Bands. One is deactivated, the other is not. It says the bands are interchangeable and I would like to use one of the older bands (and save the one I named "Grandma" for the next trip). In My Reservations and tickets it listed 2 (5) day tickets, one for me, one for my daughter. But in Magic Bands and Cards both tickets were listed in my account status and none were listed for my daughter...My confusion is how do I be sure to link only one ticket to my older Magic Band? As it stands even if we were both going I would not know how to get her ticket on her band????... Is it really that all bands will have all current information? Do I simply deactivate all bands not in use and the second entry card until I need it? I'm sorry I'm so confused.
