Hey everyone, I’ve never done a Disney cruise before and I want to try to squeeze one in next year, but I haven’t saved up enough for it yet. I’ve just barely started looking into it, so I’m wondering, can you book now without paying upfront and also have it be free cancellation? A small deposit is probably fine.

You can definitely book now. I believe 20% down is required at the time you book. Final Payment date is base on the length of your cruise between 90-120 days prior to sailing

I believe the downpayment is still 20% of the total fare. Concierge deposits are non-refundable (unless there's some Covid exception for that)

For those of us that used OBBs that would have expired but were allowed to transfer them from a cruise booked before 5/31/21 to one of the new 2022 releases under the Flexibility policy, I want to make sure I understand the cancellation process.

Here is the policy:
  • Should you cancel your new sail date, any cancellation fees applicable to the original sail date will be deferred and applied as a minimum cancellation fee to the future sailing.
My PIF for the May 2021 cruise was 1/28/21. I moved the cruise to April 2022 and have a new PIF date of 1/7/22. If I decide to cancel AFTER the original PIF of 1/28/21, I read the Flexibility policy to say that I lose the deposit.

But what if I cancel AFTER the original sail date and BEFORE the new PIF. DCL will still only have my deposit, so is that all that I would lose or would DCL say that I owe the full fare because the "original" cancellation fees apply?

Just trying to figure out when I need to make a final decision about actually sailing on this cruise. TIA!

I kept reading that, too, but I've been assured that I can move my sail date (since it's before my PIF) with no penalty of this nature. I think that applies only if you are after your PIF date when you move your sailing.

Anyone else got an opinion? Seems to be different answers, depending on who you talk to.

My understanding is that since you moved the cruise before any cancellation fees were due on the original cruise, the only cancellation fees that would apply would be based in the new cruise date. No deferred cancellation from the original date.
