Hi there,

We are planning to venture over from Sydney, Australia in November to visit WDW and do our first Disney Cruise. I have seen the policies for cancellations involving 45 days and closer and understand how you lose a deposit, 50% etc depending on the cruise length and time frame. If you cancel prior to the 45 days is there any cancellation fee at all? Thank you.

The cancellation date before which you can get a full refund can vary from 75 days up to 120 days.

Have you considered insurance? If you need to cancel for some reasons (death in family, illness, there are several others) you would get a refund of your trip

You may be confusing WDW package and DCL cancellation policies.

WDW package cancellation used to be 45 days to receive full refund; it is now 30 days prior to arrival. So if you book a WDW package (resort+tickets and/or dining) you can cancel up until 30 days prior to check-in and receive a full refund. After that, you lose the deposit (I think it's $200).

WDW room-only cancellation is much closer to arrival -- 7 days maybe? Receive refund of the deposit and any funds paid to that point.

DCL cancellation is different. Depending on the cruise, most are 75 days prior to embarkation to receive a full refund. After that 75 day point, you will lose the deposit (20% of cruise fare), or a larger percentage up to the full amount depending on how close to sail date you cancel. Some cruises have an earlier PIF and cancellation terms, so read your documents to determine what is specific to your cruise.

Enjoy your vacation!
