We have a Dec UY and want to travel in Nov. If we decide to cancel the trip, what happens to this year's points? Could I reallocate the points to a trip next year?

a dec UY is riskier for travel in nov.

if you cancel within your banking window (i.e. before the end of july), then yes, you can bank this year's points into next year.

if you banked last year's pts into this year (or borrowed pts from the next year), then those are stuck in this year and have to be used by nov 30 or you would lose them.

if you cancel this trip in august or later, then the current year pts need to be used (or rented) by the end of november or they are gone forever.

If you cancel the reservation prior to July 31, your points will return to normal status, and you can bank them into your next use year. July 31 is the end of the banking window for December use years.

If you cancel the reservation after July 31, but prior to 31 days before arrival, the points would return to normal status, but would have to be used for a stay prior to November 30th.

But do the points need to be used for a trip that ends in November or can I book a trip in November for say, Feb. 2010?

We tend to travel at the end of the year so a Dec use year is probably worst for us. Is there a way to switch to a Sept use year or would we need to sell our current contracts and buy new ones?

The trips last night of stay must be no later than November 30.

To change use years, you'll eed to sell and repurchase.

Thanks for the info! I guess we'll have to make do with our use year.
