How long in adavnce do you have to cancel a home resort reservation? Thanks!!!

In cancellations, there are several issues, but it doesn't matter whether the resort is your home or not. Home resort applies only to booking ressies, not canceling.

The most serious cancellation consequence would be losing the points altogether , but that would only happen if you simply didn't bother to cancel at all.

If you cancel 30 days or less prior to your scheduled arrival, all points for that ressie would go into "Holding Account." Holding account means that the points can't be banked, and can only be used for a ressie <60 days out. Some owners find that a manageable problem, but it can mean no chance some times of the year.

If you cancel 31 days or more from your scheduled arrival, the points just go back into your account.

However, depending on the specifics of your situation, you may have passed your banking deadline and your options with those points may be limited. You may also have run into the no-booking period for options outside DVC if you are close to the end of your UY.

The other thing to keep in mind is that banking and borrowing are irreversible transactions, so if you had borrowed points for the ressie, you would not be able to put them back into their original UY.
